From Out Of Nowhere Lyrics
Tossed into my mind, stirring the calm
You splash me with beauty and pull me down
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
Obsession rules me, I'm yours from the start
I know you see me, our eyes interlock
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave goodbye
Sifting to the bottom, every day for two
All energy funnels, all becomes you
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
One minute here and one minute there
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And it hurts inside
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave goodbye
You splash me with beauty and pull me down
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
I know you see me, our eyes interlock
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And then you wave goodbye
All energy funnels, all becomes you
'Cause you come from out of nowhere
My glance turns to a stare
Don't know if I'll laugh or cry
One minute here and one minute there
And it hurts inside
And then you wave goodbye

I think this song's about mike walkin' down the street and seeing some hot chick going the oppostie direction("you came from out of nowhere / my glance turns to a stare") and then they exchange smiles or some nonsense, and they pass each other and continue on there way..and just like that she's gone ("One minute here and one minute there And then you wave good-bye.."). And the whole songs kind of a musical representation of all the emotions and shit going throught this head during this short encounter.
good song.
@jek21 Shut up you fucking idiot.

It's never easy. You want her, but you can't have her.
I think we've all been here before, haven't we guys?
je21 I like that interpretation. Although I don't see it quite as literally, I think this song is about someone passing through your life without developing a meaningful connection. Then again, someone once convinced me that Underwater Love was about an unattainable chick (say Scarlet Johanssen?) and not about drowning your love...
This is a song about infatuation; a man frequently passes by a woman he either can't have or is too afraid to approach.
He clearly sings "Cause you come from out of nowhere"
So why not include the "Cause" in the lyrics?
FNM always used to open with this song. Always set a good tone for the rest of the set.
I think it has to do with fame. Im sure most of you know patton has been preforming with trevor dunn since 8th grade in mr. bungle (then called bister mungle, you tube it at his talent show its a riot) and he was offered the position as singer to faith no more and turned it down repeatedly to go to college.. finally he accepted and that got him a deal with Warner Bros for Bungle. I think that is what he is referring to. 'one minute here one minute there, dont know if i will laugh or cry'. ect, look at the rest of the lyrics yourself and think about it. i might be wronge, but he DID do this just so he could get, as he referred to it, "his childhood dream band" signed, even if it is with another record company.
I think the song is about the relationship between him and the creator. "You splash me with beauty pulling me down." (Gravity) "one minute here and one minute there I don\'t know if I\'ll laugh or cry." (How fast life passes by) "one minute here and one minute there and then you wave good bye." "I\'m yours from the start" all energy funnels through you." (Again his relationship with the creator.) This song is about gravity and the energy the creator gives him to share reality only for a brief moment. "And then you wave goodbye."
Great song to drive to. Use a file sharing program to download the video clip of them performing it on Saturday Night Live...bad fashion choices, but really energetic.
lol leave his spandex shorts alone... A fan girl can dream you know :P

Apocalyptica's cover of this song is amazing. I love their work. I'm surprised that they did a Faith No More cover, they usually stick to Metallica and more mainstream bands like that. It's beautiful though.
