King For A Day Lyrics
It is not a good day if you are not looking good
This is the best party that I've ever been to
Today I asked for a god to pour some wine in my eyes
Today I asked for someone to shake some salt in my life
Look!
Everything's spinning
(We're on the ground)
Never cheer before you know who's winning
(Don't make a sound)
Sniff the glass and let it roll around on your tongue
Let me introduce you to someone before the party is done
Someone to look to in need or in want or in war
If you give him everything, he may give you even more
Look!
Everything's spinning
(We're on the ground)
Never cheer before you know who's winning
(Don't make a sound)
Look!
Everything's spinning
We're on the ground
Never cheer before you know who's winning
Don't make a sound

Everything's spinning
We're on the ground
Everything's spinning
We're on the ground

i think the whole song is a metaphor of life. the 'best party' refers to the path you choose to go in life. you're standing in a very boring party (=life) waiting for something to happen. wanting someone to shake some salt in your life. it seems everyone is having a good time while you are on the ground. as the "party" continues you try to make the most of it, you try to socialize but all in all you just don't want to end the ride in vain.
i will tell you what this songs about.. musically, its faith no more at its best, pure dramatics, hence this being the title song. lyrically, its about selling your soul, and moreso, doing it willingly. its about knowing what it takes to sell your soul. you know how to meet people, you know how to impress, you'll get ahead. but deep down, you know the realities of life, and you'll never escape those. sure you can live the good life for a while, but in the end, you will be back to where you started, just a fool..
This is the best party I've been to
Don't let me die with that silly look in my eyes...
This makes me thing of if you were king for a day you'd be looking at yourself Knowing it's not you being yourself Like putting a false front on
I think this song is about drugs. when you're on drugs you are "king for a day" cause drug effect is short so when drugs stop to "work" it is only you Junkie aka "fool for a life time". I think that he sings to female.
Sniff the glass and let it roll around on your tongue - sniff the drug from the glass (cocaine) Let me introduce you to someone before the party is done - probably introduce to narco boss or dealer Someone to look to in need or in want or in war - some one who can help you when you're in crisis If you give him everything, he may give you even more - if you sleep with him he may give you more drug
@bokka3232 you stupid asshole if you werent just a moron who thinks he knows music then youd know that MIKE PATTON, ONE OF THE GREATEST VOCALISTS OF OUR TIME, wasnt singing about drugs..................... since he was totally against EVERY DRUG EXCEPT CAFFEINE He was singing about the state of america at the time and involvement and our involvement in every goddam little skirmish in the world he was saying yes we have the power to crush everyone ............................. thus let me introduce you to someone to look to in need or in want or in WAR LOOK EVERYTHINGS SPINNING... LOOK EVERYTHINGS SPINNING... BUT WE'RE ON THE GROUND How dare you bring drugs into this when Mike Patton was so not into drugs that his own band members admitted that he was anti drug except for coffee
do some research you moron before casting aspersions
its either drugs or being more comfortable with depression than a non depressed life.
Yeah i think it's defo. about drugs in some form, maybe alcohol? I have the feeling the charactor, wether it be the singer himself is drinking to much.
I think it's about how every action has a consequence. If you live in a self-destructive way, burning all your bridges and living only for today, soon enough you're going to suffer. Then, with the 'Don't let me die...' bit, he's starting to understand this, and wonders if this is the way he wants to live his life.
That's my two cents, anyway.
I can´t believe how much he sounds like the singer of right said fred in this song...
Last post didn't post properly. Basically just that 'party' might refer to political party. the high-ranking politician is king for a day (but a fool for a lifetime)
This is without a doubt FNM at it's best, both lyrically, vocally and musically.
