Spring Break Broke Lyrics
We left from the south
Increasing the altitude and drove through the hills
To play to the college crowd but they didn't show
And we played on a big rock stage
And made the big rock wages
We took what was left in the cooler and split
It wasn't spring break
So you should have known that it wasn't loaded
And that our drummer was posing
But you were too wrecked to realize
The kids were ablaze with drinks cradled in every hand
And our battle cry was belated by 6 months
But they didn't care and you ran to the top stair
And opened the door to see more than she wanted you to
But she didn't seem to care
Increasing the altitude and drove through the hills
To play to the college crowd but they didn't show
And we played on a big rock stage
And made the big rock wages
We took what was left in the cooler and split
So you should have known that it wasn't loaded
And that our drummer was posing
But you were too wrecked to realize
And our battle cry was belated by 6 months
But they didn't care and you ran to the top stair
And opened the door to see more than she wanted you to
But she didn't seem to care

this is a really great song. i wish death cab still made music like this
I cant say I have heard this song. I just thought it was sad how it was the only Death Cab For Cutie song that didnt have a reply.
despite it's lack of comments, i do love it a lot. i could listen to this over and over.
it's beautiful and soothing.
This song is absolutely gorgeous. I don't think this is spring break but it's more of "their spring break" with the cooler that wasn't loaded because it wasn't spring break. Now that I think about it, I think this song is about being on tour and them interpreting it as spring break because they didn't have one.
this is a fiver cover but they made a 7inch of of it, death cab for fiver! good song.
this is my favourite song by death cab for cutie... on my most depressing night, this was the only thing that got me to calm down and go to sleep... i wonder why many people don't comment on this one...
I used to hate this song with a passion and now that I listen to it, I can't even remember why. It's quite lovely.
Whenever that "and you opened the door to see more than she wanted you to" line always reminds of catching someone cheating. Idk why.
Or maybe that line could just be a guy walking in on a naked girl at a party who is probably a little too drunk to care in the situation.

This reminds me of my cousin who lost his best friend the last day of spring break, in a car wreck with a drunk driver. Everyone died in the wreck except the driver. It's awful, and that is why I'm not going to drink before the legal age or drink and drive. I saw his sorrow and it was too much to bear.
