It seems as though it's about a guy looking at his life finding out it's no better then a pigs "(maybe City Life)" But when he realizes his life is like this he takes pride in trying to fix it {maybe the verse}, (I don't need to beg or borrow).
Also..

That maybe saying he is hiring therapist's to help him out or forcing himself to be more social with friends, hence {the mud I wallow in with the pigs in the beginning}

Easily the way you deceive me strung out so, you stay but to leave me... Maybe finding out that his life is has been lying to him and he's been scammed by the people he's been with.
And in the last verse before the CHORUS at the very bottom is him having depression or very stressful thoughts But lets them go as he believes he has the strength to do this to let them go as if God is watching him Hence (I'll wait to see how this will end & I'll step into the light)
Possibly not sure but Possibly The chorus in the end of the song meaning he found Jesus or God, throughout the struggle he has done to find enlightenment and not depression and/or struggles that he has endured.
