I love the haunting tune of this song. It completely seduces me into Smog's world.
This song is bewitching. Have listened to it, like a billion times and it's still fresh and beguiling. The final payoff, after you've been drawn into this underwater world, "My father said to me, 'But you can't swim'" is funny and poignant. Gotta love Bill.
It's a sad little story of the type of repression that we all know so well. The narrator reflects on the beautiful dreams and aspirations he used to have, and then explains why these dreams have been completely destroyed. We can all relate. : (
