Big Wooly Mammoth Lyrics

Like a Big Woolly Mammoth
You gotta wear that coat
Like his big brother Joseph
Yeah, walkin' in the desert sand
Like a doughboy in the trenches
You gotta lay down low
Like a Big Woolly Mammoth
You gotta wear that coat

You ain't got time to worry 'bout mass extinction
Just try and get along with the human beings
Big Wooly Mammoth gonna wear that coat
In the middle of the summertime

You got a woman in the city
She got a brand new coat
Sometimes I feel like an evolutionary reject
Yeah, livin' in a high-tech world
Like a cool armadillo
You gotta lay down low
Like the Big Woolly Mammoth
You gotta wear that coat

You ain't got time to worry 'bout mass extinction
Just try and get along with the human beings
Big Wooly Mammoth gonna wear that coat
In the middle of the summertime

Another ice age is comin'
You better wear your coat
Somebody throw me a fire
So we can burn this city down
Like a doughboy in the trenches
You gotta lay down low
Like the Big Woolly Mammoth
You gotta wear that coat

Everybody needs some weapons of mass destruction
Gonna kill you with a virus or a dose of radiation
Like a Big Wooly Mammoth gonna wear that coat
In the middle of the summertime

This is a very deep song and quite powerful...shows man's evolution from the stone age through the stoned age...how we've grown as a people through biblical times (Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) to a society so advanced we can imbibe enormous amounts of substances cooked up in dirty tubs in West Virginnie and send ourselves into a lather of convulsing, glowstick tossing, lighter throwing idiots.

Yet the subtle genius is that the biblical Scholar Jojo of Oxford points out that we haven't grown at all. We've gone from stoning sinners to throwing lighters, tequila bottles and fatties at our modern day profits.

Truly a conundrum, wrapped in a riddle, cradled in an enigma, drowned in cheap red wine.

We may never know the truth.

I heard it was about a chick in Athens who always wore a big Furry coat weather it was hot or cold everywhere she went, that was friends with the band.
