take note to the fact that both billie joe and mike suffer(ed) from some sort of anxiety attacks. also i tihnk its a call to say that he feels so alone in this world, but he knows most everyone goes thru a time of struggle. the lyircs are not 'when it apes insane' its 'when it goes insane' im pretty sure anyways. one of my fave songs

"When it apes insane" should be when it GOES insane
but anyway, i think this song is about thinking that maybe you should conform to the standards of society but realizing that that's crap, just be yourself

It was my old theme song. Now it's "Minority". You get the idea, I still like it though.
I think it's pretty selfexplaining. You want people to accept you but on the other hand you don't want to change who you are, so you kinda try to convince everybody to accept you for who you are.
