Disappearing Boy

I think it's generally about not being very social. Sort of not always wanting to walk in a room full of people and talk just 'cuz. He doesn't feel like he fits in with most people so that is why he doesn't feel comfortable walking in crowded rooms.

"I have my doubts of where I belong" he doesn't know exactly who can understand him and in which group of people he 'belongs' to.

Also, the part about "In that room I see her, I see her and she's with him" this is just an added detail of how the girl he likes is with another guy, and he just sits back and walks away wishing she wasn't with him. This just adds to his alienation, even the girl he loves doesn't want him.

He feels that no where he goes, he will be accepted or understood. "Disappearing Boy" is just a funny way of saying that he won't be caught seen with anyone anymore because he knows he doesn't really belong.

Very similar to "I want to be Alone" in this sense.

I thought the line "I vanished from all your joy" was "I am frustrated by your joy." That's how I hear it, anyway.

Billie Joe is my hero. This song has got to be one of the best GD songs ever. This song fits me perfectly...

Awww.... yeah, this is an awesome song. It's about a guy who can't get over the fact that the one he loves is with someone else. He doesn't want to be involved in everyone else's happiness since he's miserable, so he becomes the "disappearing boy". I liked the lines "Treated like a forbidden heel / Don't say my thoughts are not for real / Or you won't see me again". I think this is saying that no one understands what he's going through with this, and trying to convince him that he's overreacting would alienate him further. Yeah, Billie Joe is just awesome.

GREEN DAY ARE MY HEROS :-) yeah this song is definitely one of my faves off of 1039/SOSH...sometimes i really feel like this song is speaking to me cuz im pretty shy...especially in the lines, "when i walk in crowded rooms, i feel as if it is my doom..." wow i love this song

39/Smooth is by far the best Green Day album, and this is probibally 1 of the best songs on it.

Green day is a great band! this song is totally AWESOME! I think is about a guy who loves a girl that is with someone else. my favorite part is: "In that room I see her, I see her and she's with him i turn and then I'm gone" I couldn't think of anything most painful that seeing the person you love with another person... it hurts like hell, so you just want to turn your back and go! Is a great song!
