What A Mess

this song-the power. it's him being alone- left by a girl, and trying to change himself to be fright for her. and he tells himself that she wants him to be someone else because she loves him, but in reality, he's probably better of without that. but it's one of those post-breakup songs that you feel the guilt almost immediatly.

Well, I see a different meaning for this song, because I can relate it to something that happenned to me. I had this friend who was very close to me, and some time later I found out that she wanted to get serious with me, so I gave it a shot, but since I didn't have those kind of feelings for her, everything went to the crap. She tried, but it wasn't helpless since you can't force yourself to feel. For me, the song was directed to other friends who could make you "stand from your knees".

"I confess it's all true. I'm a mess, what a fool Now what do I do" (this part was like accepting what many of my friends had noticed, that not everything was going right and it was my fault)

"I need your help to get up from my knees I can't seem to see the forest for the trees As I wait in my silent misery All I'm asking is please...forgive me" (Again, directed to my friends who could help me to stand andfrom whom I wanted to be forgiven)

"Now she knows me She wants me to be Someone I can't be ...and she wants me ...and she needs me ...and she wants me Because she loves me" (This part, totally true, she was getting into me deeply and I couldn't be that guy she wanted me to be, or who she thought I was)

"Shattered"

"Now you see inside I no longer hide Or fall between the cracks you left behind Shattered, now you're out of time You've come this far to be denied What a shame, I'm to blame" (this was when we finally broke up, I no longer hid what I felt and she was denied; her being shattered was only my fault and only I was to blame).

So, this song really gets into me.
