For me this song is about moving on over that old love which unfortunately didn't work out somehow. It's like staying friends with the person you love even after realizing that it's not gonna work anyhow. Anyway, it's just my personal interpretation. Beautiful masterpiece, must say!

This might not be the greatest doors song but the phrase "cause it's too late" gives a sense of time that works extremely well in the "The doors" album

Its so simple, but its a great song. Sort of sad.
It is pretty straight forward though.
It gives a Beatles feeling(I mean their early stuff) IMO. Not good lyrics,but catchy melody
It is about casual sex, something Jim knew much about. All he had to do was look at a girl and the pants came off. This song is confirming that he knows how things will proceed no matter what types of protests she may pretend to put up.
I believe the ...’And we’re on our way, no we cant look back’ lyric refers to the Doors initially being rejected by major labels, and having foresight knew they had something good, so I believe this line ,which im pretty sure is penned by Morrison, is him telling the other 3 members and really the whole industry that the Doors we’re on their way
Pretty straight forward, but god, the lyrics are horrible.
Jim carries it off with the voice, but this is a bad song.
