Back Door Man Lyrics
no, thats not what the song is about. the doors didnt even write this song. and back door man didnt mean that back then. it meant a man that came around and slept with other mens wives
Very accurate new friend. Willie Dixon composed this song back in 1961 and recorded by a band called "Howlin' Wolf". "Back Door Man" was on the B-side of Howlin' Wolf's 45-record. The A-side was a track called, Wang Dang Doodle. So there we have it guys and ??? K.

TheFranzFerdinand is correct about the original meaning of the "pork and beans" vs. "more chicken than any man ever seen". That's a classic poor rural Southern black blues cultural reference, in that the Back Door Man is bragging about many housewives he's gotten to short-change their husbands out of the good meat with their dinner because they like him better. The concept of somebody "getting the best" of your wife is a similar idea, in that the Back Door Man is bragging about how he gets the best food and the best sex from any lonely housewife he wants. "Eating chicken", is, of course, also a blues double entendre for cunnilingus.
Also: "little girl" is just a Southern blues term of endearment for whatever chickie he's banging that day. It does not actually mean a child. Duh. "The men don't know, but the little girl understand" means literally that in his experience, the husband is generally clueless to his presence, but the lonely housewives ALL understand what HE'S all about when they meet him.
The whole song is just a big brag, basically. "I'm the stud who your wife's fucking while you're at work, I do it all the time, she likes me more than you, I ate all your good food and snuck out the back door and you're too stupid to do anything about it."
and noone in thhe sixties understood this cept the girls he fucked

@Bullzeye that may be a term of endearment to other artists, but I don't know with Jim. I think he just likes little girls. Didn't he mary one of his wives when she was 16? Didn't Steven tyler? I think it's just in the indoctrinated jazz scene to like little girls.

the pork and beans and chicken thing is a metaphor
the men are getting pork and beans because that's a cheap easy supper, ie, they're wives aren't putting anything into it, if you catch my meaning
the narrator on the other hand is getting chicken, which takes considerably more effort
This is an old blues song by Willie Dixon. A back door man helps women cheat on their men, undetected by neighbors who can see the front door.
Choice of song may have double meaning.
Oh good Lord, people trying to read WAY too much into this song! its just about a guy who slips in the back door and bangs married women. thats it. end of story. no anal sex, no crossdressing. sheesh!
It's a song written by and old blues man so it cant have anything to do with Jim's fondness of anal sex ... unless he decided to cover the song as a sort of pun. But the song was originally about a man sneaking in the back door to have sex with women. Thats it.
Maharishi has it spot on - a backdoor man is an adulterer who sneaks in and out of the backdoor (of the woman's house) to have sex with her and go undetected. A Willie Dixon classic.
if it was about anal sex, what would the little girl understand? if it was about cheating, this would imply that the kid finds mommy with the back door man, but that would complicate things and there is no more mention of it in the song which would be a weakness in lyrics, though not major. little girls do love dress-up, though. now with the backdoor- an alternative outlet of self from home (mind). most artists only cover songs that mean a lot to them, so it makes sense that it would have double meaning and, on a lighter level, a sexual pun.
love this song. I could listen to the doors all day long!! it's an addiction
definitely not about doing it up the bum
