Call Me Back Again Lyrics
Well When I, When I Was
Just A Little Baby Boy
Every Night I Would Call
Your Number Brought Me Joy.
I Called Your House, Every Night Since Then
But I Ain't Never, No No Never
Heard You Calling Me
Come On And Call Me Back Again . . . . .
Call Me Back Again.
I've Heard Your Name Every Night Since Then
But I Ain't Never, No No Never . . . . .
Well When I, When I Was
Just A Little Baby Boy
Every Night, Every Night
I Would Call Because Your Number
Brought Me Joy
Oh -- I've Called Your Name
Every Night Since Then,
But I Ain't Never, No No No No Never
Heard You Calling Me
Come On And Call Me Back Again.
Call Me Back Again.
Just A Little Baby Boy
Every Night I Would Call
Your Number Brought Me Joy.
But I Ain't Never, No No Never
Heard You Calling Me
Come On And Call Me Back Again . . . . .
But I Ain't Never, No No Never . . . . .
Just A Little Baby Boy
Every Night, Every Night
I Would Call Because Your Number
Brought Me Joy
Every Night Since Then,
But I Ain't Never, No No No No Never
Heard You Calling Me
Come On And Call Me Back Again.

I don't know why so many people dislike this one. It's incredibly catchy, his singing is amazing, and it doesn't suck like "Silly Love Songs," "Listen To What The Man Said," "With A Little Luck," or "My Love."
IMO it's quite clear that this song is about John. I love how soulful Paul's vocals are too, so much emotion. Breaks my heart.
actually only one of those songs suck, but I fuckin love this song. when he says 'but I ain't never..." that makes me feel fucking great
I like this one. Somewhere in an interview Paul said he wanted to think of himself as just a soulful little R&B type singer on some songs - it seems like this was one that he referenced. Very well done song. Emotional vocals and a great horn section. Check out the wonderful DTS surround version of this on Venus and Mars.
I tend to think most of Paul's solo songs were about the Beatles or to John Lennon. I think Paul did expect John to get the Beatles back together.
I don't have the DTS version but there is a couple of alternant earlier, stripped down versions out there.
I think what majestic is trying to say is "Paul rocks a lot harder than most people realize".
It's a shame that a lot of people know about these Paul McCartney solo songs.
i meant that it's a shame people DON'T know about these songs.

Definitely about John, as I see it- lyrics talk about being friends with the person when he was young which is more fitting if he’s talking about John rather than any girlfriend. Paul himself has compared the sound to ‘Oh! Darling’ which is also about John, and to me it just makes sense if two songs with a similar sound have close meanings. A third, more tenuous, reason is the way he pronounces “joy”, it sounds like John (perhaps just to me though) but he has pronounced certain words as John/Johnny before, most notably some of the “darlings” in ‘Oh! Darling’, so I wouldn’t put it past Paul to reuse this device if I am hearing correctly :)
