Smile Away Lyrics
I walking down the street the other day
Who did I meet
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your feet a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
I walking down the street the other day
Who did I meet
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your breath a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Who did I meet
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your teeth a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Who did I meet
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your feet a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
Who did I meet
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your breath a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away
I met a friend of mine and he did say
Man I can smell your teeth a mile away
Smile away, smile away, smile away, yeah smile away

No... a GREAT song. I don't even care how ridiculous the lyrics are, this song cooks. Period.
Methinks Don Paolo is singing of a stereotypical unwashed, unkempt, barefoot hippie from the '60s-early '70s who is too happy doing his own thing and living his own life to give a hoot or a honk what anyone says about his grooming and attire.
This is a good song.
Seems more to me that it's "durn-doo-da-doo-doo-da" stuff ;)

One of the better songs off of RAM
i think it has to do with not worrying what anyone else things and "smiling away" aka living your life and being happy.
i meant to say thinks*
What are they singing in the backgroung? "something something do that"
"Learnin' how to do that", "Learnin' how to do that", "Learnin' how to do that", etc.

I've listened to this song since it was released. But, it wasn't until a few weeks ago I really listened to the chorus behind the main lyrics. I always thought it was just nonsense in harmony sung by Linda, but; "I don't know how to do that. I don't know how to do that..." Then, "I'm learning how to do that. I'm learning how do do that..." It makes sense for the theme of the song, but I'm not sure I'm hearing it correctly.

Uncle Paul was very thirsty, so he drank a lot of coke
I used to think this "friend" was John Lennon. It's probably what John told anyone at the time.
