this song is about a guy who had been trying to get with this girl he likes. He tried to kiss her but she is either, Not wanting him, or not realizing it.. I know how this feels same thing happened to me.
this song hits me everytime i hear it... to me, it means that the guy fought himself to get the courage to ask a girl out or whatever, but when he finally did get the nerve, she was already gone... but he's gonna keep trying, because he loves her that much
i think it's more like someone who he is seeing or he is interested in is blowing him off and refusing to take their relationship a step futher. he is approaching her all the time 'falling like the rain' but she is refusing his advances 'you've got your umbrella in the way.'
i agree w/aniota, he keeps pushing himself on her but she's refusing either because she doesn't want to or just doesn't know it yet...but he'll keep trying because he loves her so much "but like the rain i'll come again some other day"
