Madrigals Lyrics

i’m not so sure what i was dreaming
about but i’m sure it was better
than this and i’ll hope you suppose
that i’m alright i’m buying you flowers

you told everyone, they know everything
and your madrigals and your silver rings
i still see a flash
from the time i opened my eyes too wide

i couldn’t have asked you to stay
i’m already falling to pieces
from this and i’ll hope you suppose
that i’m alright i’m sending you flowers

you told everyone, they know everything
and your madrigals and your silver rings
i still see a flash
from the time i opened my eyes too wide

I think it's about having a fight with someone and realizing that they're not as good as they first appeared. He's saying that he hopes this other person thinks everything is okay and that he is okay even though he's "falling to pieces." It sounds like he was in a relationship with someone, they broke up, and this person decided to tell everyone about what had happened. I think the line "I still see a flash/from the time I opened my eyes too wide" means something along the lines of he still feels the pain from when he opened himself up to another person. Just speculation, though...=)

his eyes might hurt because of a picture and he's lookin at it wonderin bout how she is and he's sendin her flowers, but she never sends him anything, or asks him if he's alright

Howie Day is the greatest, nicest person ever, and this is a cool song, one of his coolest actually (Go pick up Madrigals EP on 4/29!). I couldn't say what exactly this song is about...probably along the lines of a break up though...anyways, Howie is great!

i think i got it... "you told everyone, they know everything" he fell and love and told everybody about how great she was and all that. "and your madrigals and your silver rings i still see a flash" hes saying that in the beginin she was all love poems (madrigals) and shiney rings "i still see the flash" how amazed and stunned he was wen he frist realized the whole thing. "from the time i opened my eyes" i think its a love at first sight kinda thing... just complete awestruck and in love from the very begining.

If you have Stop All the World Now (the album), look on the inside cover of the cd case- you may have to take it apart... on the left spine, there are lyrics to this song written very small and in a very light font so you might want to use bright lights to read it: "I'm not so sure what I was dreaming about but I'm sure it was better than this..."

Kind of weird that the lyrics are on the cd case since the song isn't even on the album.

I think it has something to do with a groupie

wow, how did you find those lyrics in that small space written to small? haha That is kinda strange. I wonder if anyone knows why he did that?
