Becuz Lyrics
[Kim]
Wish I could change the way that you feel
standing with him you feel more real
looking so sweet with all your might
trusted in him to put it right
Holding his hand like a brand new kite
blue eyes sparkle, open, alright
wish I could see, the girl who'd fight
playing and laughing and trying to show it
Running and falling and dying to know it
staring you down with her gaze hold it
wish I could free you but I can't don't blow it
Angel, gonna show it
lord
the devil, go on hold it
angel, gonna show it
lord
blow it
Becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
Wish I could free you, but I can't, don't blow it
wish I could free you, but I can't, don't know it
standing with him you feel more real
looking so sweet with all your might
trusted in him to put it right
blue eyes sparkle, open, alright
wish I could see, the girl who'd fight
playing and laughing and trying to show it
staring you down with her gaze hold it
wish I could free you but I can't don't blow it
lord
the devil, go on hold it
angel, gonna show it
lord
blow it
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you, becuz of you
wish I could free you, but I can't, don't know it

unrequited love
According to Chris Lawrence's page, this one's a homage to Patti Smith's "Because The Night". Seems like a straight forward love song to me, lyrically. Kim's vocals are amazing -it's so incredibly sexy the way she whispers it while instrumentally there's all kinds of things going on. It is maybe my favorite song all around. The way the guitars are played blows me away, especially Thurston's, doing this weird tuned percussive riff. Overall, the song rhythm I can only describe as sexual -the beginning hurling through the climax where the guitars go wild, then it slows back down while you're still enjoying whatever just happened ;-). Or maybe I've just been listening to it too much :-P
Kerze... can you interpret the one of Elton john "the sun go down on me"? tell me if mine fits
i can relate to this song like mad, kinda...

a girl giving up everything for a guy that's obviously not gonna be there forever
unrequited love : I agree.
But did he leave her for another guy ? Seems like it.
This song was originally called Jim Caroll. I'm not sure if that means anything or not.
Anyone else pissed off by the fact that Geffen made them cut the coda of the end for an 'accessible opening track'? I'm sure most fans of this band, like me, like extended instrumental parts. Becuz Coda is the actual name of the 'untitled' track 9 on Washing Machine. Including this part at the end its length is about seven and a half minutes. It's great anyway, despite having been edited.
No, I do not mind that the coda is at track 9. "Becuz" is such a great song, and a great opener, and in my book it adds a little cohesiveness to the album by placing the coda later on in the album.

I always took the whole "move the coda" for an "accessible" opener with a grain of salt, anyway. SY had full artistic control during their stay at Geffen. And that two minute coda being moved hardly makes Washing Machine a more commercially accessible album. It's still an uncompromising work of art, and one...

@wiggy52 Yes, I decided to recombine the main part with the coda and liked the result! You can check it out here if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHawRhdex7c
