I think Kurt Cobain used to write: "God is Gay" On public walls in his hometown

I love this song, especialy the line "Are you gay? Are you God?"...obviously directed toward religious fundies who attack homosexuals and say "God hates fags".

These are most likely Kurt Cobain references: "god is gay, and you were right." The last line of the Nirvana song Stay Away is 'god is gay.'

i don't think this song is religious. it just says being different from the others is ok,whatever you do is right for you,god is at your side.

this song is probably an attack against homophobes that use their conservative/fundamentalist believes as an "excuse" for violence against LGBT people. the "god is gay" thing is possibly a provocative spit-in-the-face of "fred phelps" types.

There is a cement wall in my hometown that has had "God Is Gay" spraypainted on it for as long as I can remember.

This song is an attack against religious fundamentalists who use "God" to advocate violence against LGBT people. "God is gay" is an attack as well because these people say that "god" would support them for this violence when in reality, their god has stated that they must "love their neighbor and leave revenge to god".

In the song, the gay guy gets beat up by religious fundies, and Thurston assures the guy that the fundies were wrong and he was right.

I think it's about how it shouldn't matter what you are, I mean the lines "hey it's okay, hey hey it's okay" certainly make me think that. I think Rimiska pretty much summed it up actually.
