Brighter Than The Sun Lyrics

we could wander in the garden of eden baby
we could anything tonight, maybe
we could even touch the sky
if we just get up on our feet and try
we could wander in the garden of eden baby

will you settle for the bull`s run
for the second best of fun
for the fire of a handgun
burns brighter than the sun

any colour you like as long as it`s black
you have anything if you just give it back
you could be a celebrity like me
it won`t change anything as you will see
any colour you like as long as it`s black

In my interpretation the lyric is some form reference to U.S.A.

1st paragraph: I see it as an overall reference to freedom and the "land of opportunity" where "everything is possible" as long as you put your effort into it. (Also referenced in the 3rd paragraph "You have anything if you just give it back")

2nd paragraph: -"Bull's run" is likely a reference to Wall Street where you have the "Charging Bull" statue that symbolizes market gorwth and increase in profits. -"for the fire handgun" would be reference to The Second Amendment, often referred to as the right to bear arms, is one of 10 amendments that form the Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791 by the U.S. Congress. -"Burns brighter than the sun" could have a mening of "To experience and enjoy all that life has to offer" ... but I thought of some reference to the Atomic Bomb... don't know why.

3rd paragraph: -“You can have any color you want so long as it’s black.” Is a quote from Henry Ford in 1909. That is a reference to the car Ford Model T, black was chosen because it was fastest to dry. It's a reference to industrial revolution and efficiency.

  • Than it says is possible for anyone to become a celebrity (Land of opportunity), but that would be a shallow goal since "It won't change anything as you will see"
  • "You have anything if you just give it back" could also be a reference to social mobility, opportunity and meritocracy.
