Shine Lyrics
I hear you walkin' around this house sometimes
I wish you never chose to cross that line
Now you walk among famous ones
You're the angels' sun, but now your'e gone
And you chose to shine
Sorry, but you know that we're
Far from fine
She won't be comin' home for quite some time
Guess I'll have to see you on the other side
Now you walk among famous ones
You're the angels' sun, but now you're gone and you...
You chose to shine
Even on that line
Sorry, but you know that we're
Far from fine
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, no, I won't hide...
No I, I won't hide
I feel you next to me, your eyes so bright
Never thought I'd see the world so kind
Now you walk among famous ones
You're the angels' sun, but now you're gone and you...
You chose to shine
Sorry, but you know that we're
Far from fine
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, no, I won't hide
No I, I won't hide, I won't hide
I know you're watching me
Your father's so proud
You were born to be the talk of the crowd
But now you walk among
The famous ones
You're the angels' sun, and now you're gone and you
You chose to shine
Even on that line
Sorry, but you know we're far from fine
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, (no, I won't)
I will live these days, no, I won't hide

I won't hide, I won't hide, no, I won't hide

i really like this song, i think its about a girl who left him to go to hollywood? i really have no idea. if anybody cares to shed some light i'd love it.
To me this song reminds me of a friend that died recently. When she passed, of my Christian (Catholic, maybe?) friends told me that in their religion you could tell God that you were not ready to pass, and he would not take your life. The part about choosing ("you chose to shine") tells me that she was ready to spend her eternity elsewhere, and she's looking down on me.
This song always makes me think...
This is an awesome song. I have Pat's press video for the CD (I've directed a couple concerts and am trying to get him one at UVA as I type now) and for Pat, it's the most personal song he's ever written. It's about a friend of the family whose daughter recently passed away. He said that as she was trying to shine, she died. So that's what the song means to Pat.
this is a really good song. I heard it for the first time last night, 'cause they opened for VH at the house of blues...they were pretty good. this song really hit me. i guess just because it's really sad. i like the line "and you chose to shine"...
