Little Victories Lyrics
This time
I’ll be sailing
No more bailing boats for me
I’ll be out there on the sea
Just my confidence and me
And I’ll be awful sometimes
Weakened to my knees
But I’ll learn to get by
On little victories
This time, I’ll have no fear
I’ll be standing strong and tall
Turn my back towards them all
And I’ll be awful sometimes
Weakened to my knees
And I’ll learn to get by
On little victories
And if the world decides to catch up with me
Still little victories
I’ll be sailing
No more bailing boats for me
Just my confidence and me
Weakened to my knees
On little victories
I’ll be standing strong and tall
Turn my back towards them all
Weakened to my knees
And I’ll learn to get by
On little victories
And if the world decides to catch up with me
Still little victories

Yep. Not being afraid to fail. Finally going at it alone and accomplishing things for yourself. Maybe in the past, he was leaning on others, whether it was friends, parents or a significant other.
let go of your past. do what you want. let your attempts not be failures but, something to learn from. live ur life

I always listen to this song when I'm feeling down. Quit trying to catch up with everything around you, even the tiniest good things can help you.
I find this song to be the grown up, insightful version of John Mayer’s “new deep”. Obviously, this was written before new deep, and is, frankly, better in many ways other than the ones mentioned above (insightful, grown up). It’s just a conscious decision a sensitive person makes to let it go, stop taking it to heart, being yourself. This is not my favorite MN song, to say the least, but I can see what’s so good about it. I like how he doesn’t take a aggressive approach to this idea, of leaving life be, but rather a calm, post-cathartic one. Sort of like “I’ve been here before, but now I understand”.
Not being afraid of failure..."And I'll be awful sometimes"
...and learning to give yourself more credit...not comparing yourself to the world...just...learning to embrace your own accomplishments.
The message is definately don't be afraid to fail, but I can really relate to this. Just how he mentions being on the sea. . . I've gone through chemotherapy this year, and I hope to get to college to become a marine biologist, and really, its the little victories that get me through the day.
I LOVE Matt. I wish more people knew about him.
