Bullet Lyrics

excuse me now i've got a call
i'll take this call from Valhalla
please tell my friends from outer space
you are my son you'll take my place
and if the revolution comes
i've got some good friends there
take my place after all you are my son
you take the moon i'll take the sun
and by the way if the revolution comes
please take my refiles take my guns
a ingle bullet loaded in each one
if you don't like my melody
i'll sing it in a major key
i'll sing it very happily
but if everybody is all aboard
let's take it back to that minor chord
you are my son you'll take my place
please tell my fiends from outer space
i'll take this call from Valhalla
excuse me now i've got a call
i've got some good friends there
revolution comes
a single bullet loaded in each one
please take my rifles please take my guns
and by the way if the revolution comes
please take my rifles take my guns
you take my place because you are my son
excuse me now i'll take the sun
i'll take my place in Valhalla
and if the revolution comes
please take my guns

When I saw frank black playing a solo acoustic show in Camden, London, England he explained what this song was all about.
When his father died he had to go to his house to sort through his stuff. Frank found in one room of his fathers house a whole pile of guns, each one was loaded with one single bullet!

It's a father addressing his son. It's clear that the old man isn't all there. His delusions are a mix of Norse mythology, aliens, and imminent violent revolution. Seems as though the guy knows he won't be able to make it, so he's going to commit suicide and pass the mantle on to his son. This is a very very dark song about mental illness. One can only wonder what the boy must have been going through.

I had always thought that the guns were loaded with single bullets for suicidal purposes. The old "save one bullet for yourself" rule.

Valhalla is from Scandonavian mythology. It was a hall in which heroes killed in battle were believe to feast with Odin, the supreme god and creator, for eternity.
