When I'm Thinking About You Lyrics
Over the rooftops, a plane in the sky
Beat of a bass drum, cars passing me by
Under a bridge dark then back into light
A river of raincoats and a forest of faces
Still for a moment then red into green
Slow shuffling shoes whisper sight unseen
Row upon row of houses return an empty stare
Let me daydream for a little while longer
Ah, hope I’ll never wake
When I’m thinking about you
Yeah, hope I’ll never wake
'Cause now I’m thinking about you
Two-minute hailstorm then melts into rain
Oh, sing me a rainbow, it’s sunny again
Swallows overhead while the traffic snarls below
Could I, could I, keep dreaming
For a little while longer?
Ah, hope I’ll never wake when I’m thinking about you
So that you know, I never want to wake
'Cause now I’m thinking about you
When you’re searching your soul
When you’re searching for pleasure
How often pain is all you find
But when you’re coasting along
And nobody’s trying too hard
You can turn around and like where you are
Yeah, and I hope I never wake
When I’m thinking about you
And I close my eyes, dear
Now I’ll never, never wake
Why should I stop thinking about you?

This is my favorite song in the world. I love the part near the end where the piano plays just a few notes and then pauses as she sings "ta-do-da, ta-do-da." There's just something about that little piano segment that gives me goose bumps. Anyone else agree?
Yes, I'm right there with you. I love that part too - totally briliant to drop in the piano

But when you’re coasting along and nobody’s trying too hard, you can turn around and like where you are - sometimes we need to catch our breath and take a look around to appreciate being alive and being loved. Tight song.
it's so weird listening to this album again(static & silence) and coming back upon this song...i remember a few years ago, this song had some of my favorite lyrics, which i quoted quite often. it's strange how even so many years later, it still hits me close to home.
"when you’re searching your soul when you’re searching for pleasure how often, pain is all you find but when you’re coasting along and nobody’s trying too hard you can turn around and like where you are,"
i like that part because it says that no matter how crappy things get, or how many things you try go wrong, there's always something worth smiling about around you, and sometimes you need to stop and look around for a moment to get your bearings, and then you'll feel better about it all, even if only for a little while.
Have anyone heard pixeltoy sing this song? I have heard in youtube. very very good :)
So what’s this most beautiful song about?
The gorgeous instrumentation and melody suggest someone dreamily in love, but like many Sundays songs, I think it’s somewhat ambiguous.
A few hours away from blissful reunion? Absent lover? Dream lover? Crush? The key seems to be this:
When you're searching your soul When you're searching for pleasure How often, pain is all you find But when you're coasting along and nobody's trying too hard You can turn around and like where you are
So she seems happy with her lot, but it’s not as though she’s rushing to with this person. But:
And I close my eyes (dear) Now I'll never never wake Why should I stop thinking about you
If she’ll never wake, is “thinking about you” all she has to look forward to? Is it her love or a bottle of red that awaits her at home?
