The Down Town Lyrics
I know a town where people are running
Away from life it seems always funny
They think they are smart
don't doubt what they say
Scared of a change
Existing only
To bring me down
Thought less in heart / desperate in honesty
Failed from the start / wasted and suffering
Supply them their drugs / just don't take them away
Scared of a change
Existing only
To bring me down
I don't feel like I should even worry about you
But I take the time and you push me away
I don't care too much no more
I always seem to waste my breath
Go my own way
Go my own way
I know a town where people are running
Away from life it seems always funny
They think they are smart
don't doubt what they say
Scared of a change
Existing only
To bring me down
Thought less in heart / desperate in honesty
Failed from the start / wasted and suffering
Supply them their drugs / just don't take them away
Scared of a change
Existing only
To bring me down
I don't feel like I should even worry about you
But I take the time and you push me away
I don't care too much no more
I always seem to waste my breath
Go my own way
Go my own way
Away from life it seems always funny

Scared of a change

Scared of a change

I think this song is about an insane asylum.
This is DOTN's best song. The guitars r awesome. I haven't heard DOTN3, but I heard it sucked
This song id about life everywhere, and ones attempt to escape the status quo life of mindless repetition, drugs, and other crap. Hes saying the people that live like this are bringing him down, hindering his potential to do/become who he wants to be. Their fear of change keeps them down, drugs keeps them down, and many many people live like this and are born into this hence the assumption 'failed from the start'. this is an amazing song. everyone go your own way and DON'T fear change
i think this song is about a small town where everyones living their lives in an unknowingly monotonous manner. but moreso, a drug addict talking about this dealers "Supply them their drugs / just don't take them away" and "Existing only to bring me down" .
This song is about Charlestown, Indiana. Travis grew up there in the projects. The picture on the back cover of DOTN's debut album is of what we called the Sweet Shop., which was a local corner grocery/hangout in the projects.
