In My Garden Lyrics
In my garden
Things grow in my garden
Things will grow
Then they die
Then they fall away
Then they're gone
In my garden
In my garden
We'll never grow old
We'll never grow old
In my garden
Where the dew never dries
In my garden
In my garden
These roses
These black orchids are our friends
In my garden
When we breathe
When we breathe this air
We will breathe in these things
We will breathe in these things
In my garden
In my garden
We'll never die
We'll never die
In my garden
In my garden
Things grow in my garden
Things will grow
Then they die
Then they fall away
Then they're gone
In my garden
In my garden
We'll never grow old
We'll never grow old
In my garden
Where the dew never dries
In my garden
In my garden
These roses
These black orchids are our friends
In my garden
When we breathe
When we breathe this air
We will breathe in these things
We will breathe in these things
In my garden
In my garden
We'll never die
We'll never die
In my garden
In my garden

It is very much about the Garden of Eden - about this magical time before temptation when things were perfect, unsullied, innocent, and lasted forever. That's why the entire thing is drenched in sadness and mourning -- it just can't last. It won't. It will fall apart and die. That's also why this song is just so fucking beautiful and heartbreaking.
Immortality (metaphorical?) in some proverbial (literal? [this album is called Children of God]) Garden of Eden.
One of the best songs I have ever heard. Way too beautiful. Almost sad.
oh my god, so beutiful and sad, I love it, I just heard this song and never realized nine inch nails used the main piano melody and ambient noises on the song "something I can never have" a couple years later.. wonder why no one has ever said anything...
