J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva) Lyrics

My friend drove off the other day,
And now he's gone and all they say,
Is you gotta live cause life goes on
But now I see I'm mortal too
I can't live my life like you
Gotta live it up while life goes on

And I think it's alright
That I do what I like cause that's the way I want to live
And so I give
And I'm still giving

And now I wonder about my friend
If he gave all he could give
Cause he lived his life like I live mine
If you could see inside my head
Then you'd start to understand
The things I value in my heart

You know that,
I know that,
Your watching me

Gotta make a plan
Gotta do what's right
Can't run around in circles
If you want to build a life
But I don't want to make a plan
For a day far away
While I'm young and while I'm able
All I want to do is

in case you didn't get the point by now, its about a dead friend, who thought he could do what he wanted in life, and ended up getting killed. it was originally made for the movie agnus. never saw the movie, and i dont know how the song relates to it

I think this is a very sweet song, it was written about Mike Dirnt's friend who died, don't ya know? Can't say any more or I'll start booing like a bitch.

This song is about, as said before, Mike Dirnt's dead friend. It's him reflecting upon his own life. It's a great song and I love the lyrics "If you could see inside my head, then you would start to understand, the things I value in my heart". How great are those lyrics?

@TasChiBandGirl reading those lyrics gave me chills, in a good way ya know

Yeah, the point of the song is known, and i thought it was always very touching. I love its (a phrase i throw around alot, but its true) introspective qualities, it really makes you assess the whole point of your life, and how life is short, and you know what you should be doing, what the right thing is, but youre too young to accept it, too young to accept your own mortality. Pretty heavy. Great song though. Angus was a great movie too.

This is a beautiful song, and it can really hit home with a lot of people. "If you could see inside my head then you'd start to understand the things I value in my heart" couldn't be more true or, I'll use this word again, beautiful. Green Day is one of those rare bands that touches issues in some songs but is pure humor in others and reminds you how messed up the world is without depressing you about it. It's music that reminds you it's okay to get on a different track. I LOVE this song.

J.A.R. is the initials for Mike's friend, Jason Andrew Relva, who died. Jason Andrew Relva was actually friends with the entire band not just Mike. Mike wrote the lyrics and Green Day wrote the music together. greendayfan02 is right. Green Day can definately make music that is moving and symbolic, but doesn't make it all depressing. Great song.

i totally agree with greendayfan02. and also, they can take a really sad subject like this, and make it sound not depressing. that takes alot of talent. green day rocks!
