tu m'as dit "j'ai rendez-vous

traditional french song.... we had to sing this for our french final... we listened to the origional version like 20 times before someone in our class brought in the NOFX version, our teacher loved it! if you take the literal meaning of some parts its a pretty depressing song... like "aux champs-élysées" is kindof a french term for being dead (or so i heard) so "aux champs-élysées, au soleil, sous la pluie, a midi ou a minuit, il y a tout ce que vous voulez aux champs-élysées" means: when i'm dead, when i'm dead, in the sun, under the rain, at noon or at midnight there is everythign you want to do, when i'm dead"
You said you took French. You should know that the Champs Elysees is the largest street in France. It's located in Paris and is a straight road that stretches for two kilometers through Paris. And also, the French word for death is mourir. The past tense is mort. Death is not mentioned in this song at all. It's about having fun on the largest street in the world.

in short, walking, talking to anybody, that anybody was you (the girl ) i needed to talk to you to "apprivoiser" can't think of english word, sort of adopte but more for animals. told me you had to meet crazy people in the basement who live with a guitar night and morning, i went with you we danced we sang we thought of kissing the chorus: in the " champs-élysées" ( in paris) or heavenly fields,in the rain, in the sun, at noon or midnight there everything you want in the " champs elysee. hope this helps :)
hehe i love this song..my favorite line: "I'll meet you in the basement with the insane one who lives; guitar in hand from night 'til morning" nofx is awesome! those of you who like them... check out monosyllabic girl!

oops. it's suppose to read " a guitar at hand, at night and morning. the whole thing is written note form-ish. keep that in mind too, it's not word for word,
this song is actually a cover of a song by Joe Dassin, a french songwriter, on his album 'Les Champs Elyses'. The original song was released in the late 1960's on a french label, and made it to the US by import.
