Waiting For Sunday Lyrics
I'm always frightened
I wear my helmet every day
I'm scared the sky might tumble down from heaven
I blame my neighbors
I wish that they'd all move away
They're all on welfare, kill babies, pass bad laws
start all the wars
I wait for a miracle
I go to big building, I pray
I dance with demons, they whisper my fate
Scare me into thinking I'm saved
We're all so tired
We wear our raincoats every day
To keep the wet and wind and world out
Waiting for Sunday
I wear my helmet every day
I'm scared the sky might tumble down from heaven
I wish that they'd all move away
They're all on welfare, kill babies, pass bad laws
start all the wars
I go to big building, I pray
I dance with demons, they whisper my fate
Scare me into thinking I'm saved
We wear our raincoats every day
To keep the wet and wind and world out
Waiting for Sunday

another amazing far song. this to me is about a life where youre really not happy, but instead of doing anything that will help yourself, you simply wait, hope and pray that it will get better. it also makes a really good statement about religion playing a part in peoples willingness to sit down and think that they are saved.
I couldn't have said it better, also one of my favorite Far songs
I love Jonah. He is amazing.
this song is about people who believe in god "jesus freaks" they are scared of life basically because of god.. gods goin to open the sky and destroy everything. yet the terrible people like his neighbors have nothing happen to them. so they are afraid of demons and telling them lies.. so they live a scared and protected life till sunday the day they go to church
wow i didn't realize that whole subtext of the song...ahh that's HORRIBLE!!! i don't really like it so much anymore. basically because...that's not how Christians are...God is the reason I'm not scared of life.
OR, Could this song realllllllly be commentary on how the average American displaces blame for all societies woes, is paranoid of diversity in general, is saved by belief internally but expects worldly salvation and believes attending church is the solution to it all instead of actual action?
[anticipating responses] Of course not EVERY church-going person is like this, but perhaps too many? Enough to inspire a song?
Actually, scratch all that. Paranoid people are comforted by the thought of sanctuary on a particular day of week and begin to live in anticipation of said day.
Great song, though.
