What A Feeling Lyrics
Now's the time when this will turn to fruit
All the poppies gonna push up through
And I can see the ground below
The places that I know, disappearing
And I can see the winter fade
I don't feel so afraid it's clearing
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Life is only half way in our hands
Years have passed while I was making plans
And I could never find the words
I always felt absurd, and always outside
But now I know I shouldn't care
There's a song already there
Waiting inside
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
And I can feel the crock unwind
The parts of me I tied are running
And all the birds are in my head
The laughter that was dead is coming
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
The laughter that was dead is coming
Oh, what a feeling
The laughter that was dead is coming
All the poppies gonna push up through
And I can see the ground below
The places that I know, disappearing
And I can see the winter fade
I don't feel so afraid it's clearing
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Years have passed while I was making plans
And I could never find the words
I always felt absurd, and always outside
There's a song already there
Waiting inside
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
The parts of me I tied are running
And all the birds are in my head
The laughter that was dead is coming
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
Oh, what a feeling
The laughter that was dead is coming

I was really nice to hear this song on her album, SIREN-her music has changed a lot in many ways and I am happy for her- I love her music and I think she is a beautiful person and i want her to be happy, after everything that she has been through-it will make more sense if you have heard Oyster, and how dark she was then... but I heard it at the right time in my life and it really reflected my feelings-I am glad for the line- the laughter that was dead-is coming :)
"All the poppies gonna push up soon..." To me, this song is about the realization that you're ever so slowly coming into your own...the insecurities are fading, you're feeling stronger, and you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's not some huge, earth-shattering change...it's a slow, gradual, invigorating time of growth. "The laughter that was dead is coming..." You've realized that there is joy for you in the world, that you're not fated to live in the dark. And it's coming to you...you can feel it...you can taste it. Finally you can believe it. Breathtaking songwriting from Heather Nova.
One of my all-time favs. I cant find the lines to speak my mind how much this song means to me
Toadfish, I agree with you completely. Heather has a way of delivering a powerful message from something that may seem like only a slight occurance, but can still have tremendous meaning on an individual person.
