I haven't cried since the middle of June, and that was in the middle of "Katy Song" as I had just ended a friendship with a girl I had known for over two years. Since then, my life has plummeted further and further, but I've been unable to cry. I don't know why, because I've had more reason to cry recently than I ever have in my life.

Finally, yesterday, I came to thinking about how worthless I felt myself to be. And I put on "Drop" and it all clicked: I don't care about myself. And straight into the second verse, I started crying. It climaxed so gorgeously by the time the second chorus and the song were both over.

This song will never be the same to me. Even if, as I suspect, I'm never happy again, this song will make me feel warm and comforted.

I have always wondered what happened to this man to give him this kind of lyrical power. Kozelek is always so dauntingly honest, his music a mirror reflection to his own life in many ways.

I think this is a song about a person who seems beautiful when they're fragile. But in reality you know they are an ugly, vindictive person. Then you see them lying in a hospital bed, and you realize how much you love them. It's one of those 'You don't know what you have until it's left you' kind of things, I think.

i read in an interview that he wrote this song at his sister's house and basically, he had just found out some information about his girlfriend that he didnt' want to know. he loved her, but now this new information was on his conscious, so it made his feelings "all together drop"....also....look at

"so much that i can't say to you my voice shakes from the hurt that i hide".....i definietely relate to this from dating a girl who had quite a past that i didn't know about and then....i heard and i loved her, but it was tough to get over her past.

I have loved and listened to this song for years. To me, it has always been about someone in love with someone who has cheated on them, maybe even been nasty in some ways.

"if only i were blind to your selfish fling and your desperate cause and didn't press you for the details that threaten my physical flaws"

I believe that refers to finding out the details of the cheating/the betrayal. Then being insecure because the "other person" was maybe better looking, in better shape.

There is a real struggle because one loves the other but perhaps knows they are being cheated (in more ways than one).

It's about being deeply in love with someone that you know you shouldn't be because they don't have that same commitment.

That's what I get from it anyway.

I just had a 15 month relationship end a few weeks ago and she's already found someone else. It was a long distance relationship, and despite us being broken up she still wants me to visit her in a month. This has always been one of my most favorite songs but in the past few days I have begun to realize just how special it is to me now with it's new meaning. Devastating.

this reminds me so much of my very own feelings...i can´t explain..this song is mindblowing!

This is a gorgeous song... but I'm not sure if this is about someone who is sick, and the person feels obligated to love them but doesn't want to... or about someone who's in a relationship that they just can't leave. Either way, it's a great song.

i just heard this song for the first time today, and i think that my life has just changed. im speechless.
