Seems to me that he cheated on someone. He can't explain himself out of the situation, he's just come to terms with that his partner found out. The second paragraph suggests he's not surprised he did it, he knew he couldn't keep away. "Her" in the third paragraph is the girl with whom he cheated on his partner.
