Only the magical transit children
Sing, sing the lullaby, bah bah bah
Sitting on the pavement, sucking on a long straw
It's colorful, it's colorful, but it washes you out

Here is my violence, and here is the excuse
I learned it all, but only second hand
Falling into walls, well what is it with you
You never know, never know, never know

We planned it all this way
We planned it all this way
Pressure on Julian

Swimming in yellow pissy water
Sand getting in between their ears
No blood in head in this bloddy weather
Irate people with yellow tounges

Only the magical transit children
Sing, sing the lullaby, bah bah bah
Falling into walls, well what is it with you
You never know, never know, never know

We planned it all this way
We planned it all this way
Pressure on Julian

(There was pressure on Julian, pushing trolleys in the car park
From B to A, then back to B
Pressure on Julian, he keeps passing out
Poor, precious little snout, the birds are singing at night
Pressure on Julian)

We planned it all this way
We planned it all this way
Pressure on Julian

A song about Julian Cope as far as I'm aware...

Yeah, it's about Julian Cope. Dave Balfe, their boss at Food records and the person "Country House" is based on, used to be the keyboardist for the Teardrop Explodes - Julian Cope was their lead singer. So it was a bit of a dig at Balfe, who I think Damon detests.

Also Julian Cope's known for taking LSD regularly for a long time and it's had a harsh effect on his sanity.

"It's colourful, it's colourful, but it washes you out."

So perhaps there was pressure on Julian to take drugs so that he would write far out songs & act like a spaced-out rock star and all that began to take its toll.

Or perhaps he took LSD to deal with the pressure there was on him to write more hits for the Teardrop Explodes.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
