This song just speaks for itself, i feel as though he is waiting for someone to complete him from his loneliness, i think everyone can relate to this song at one point in their lives
I agree with the Brass Munkee...I too think that this song is about waiting for that one person to walk with you on your way through life.
i dont believe this song has anything to do with dying.
the referance to 'angel' is just a way of saying that 'special someone.'

to me it is about the person you love in your life, Ben is waiting for the right person to step into his life, pick him up, and carry him through life.
this song is simply not supposed to be taken that deeply, so i agree, it's just about wanting to find the right someone and feel safe and not alone, etc etc. this song really captures the the feelings he has though, i really like it. the live version on live from mars disc two is pretty standard on my list.
Thinking of using this song as our first dance as husband and wife. I think it's a great choice
obviously this song is about dying, but i like to also see it as waiting for that one person that will make your life complete and therefore, death all that more bareable, i like this song b/c that's where i find myself, "waiting on an angel" b/c "i don't want to go alone"
totally. also that part "so speak kind to a stranger" just shows that you'll never know who your "angel" might be...makes you think.
Ben has many good points in this song. He talks about being kind to strangers meaning nobody knows who there guardian angel is. It could be anybody. He is saying "waiting on an angel" as sort of a plea for some help. He doesnt want to keep living life by himself.
