I think this song is about a guy who has been used by a woman and cast aside. He is feeling vulnerable and is worried about himself. How he is going to make it through the pain of a being dumped. And he his worried about finding another girl that won’t crush his emotions again. When he says he’s worried about you he is staring at himself in the mirror.

Suprised no ones commented on this song yet. I first heard it on the 4 Flicks DVD when they're warming up, I think for the Twickenham gig. I annoyed me for ages because it sounded really good but I couldn't find out what it was called. Found it tho :D
One of my favorite Stones tracks. Lyrics are kind of hit or miss, typical sad Mick stuff, distrustful of women. But I love the late night vibe, and how the music really echoes the titular emotion - 'worried', late at night, alone...imagery of 'burnt out cigarette', 'those nights I spent, waiting on the sun' do a nice job evoking that quintessential Stones party lifestyle. Good vocal by Mick, really runs the gamut from the hesitant falsetto in the intro, to some impassioned growls as the song crescendoes.
All in all, the Stones get a lot of mileage out of a simple but evocative title phrase - 'worried about you'. Musically and lyrically, it all seems to build around that phrase. It works for me.
Love this song! Very difficult to sing along with as is a lot of stones songs lol...kinda like a live one. Meaning is defntly a lover burnt etc...chorus hooked me big time originally and had to find out all the in between lil rants mick goes into but well worth the close listens I've had! Highly recommended to listen to closely and Mick has such a unique voice it's well worth it!!
I think this song is about the person being in a relationship with a narcissist or sociopath who was so great and promised so many things at the beginning of the relationship then changed their personality and feelings later on. That's why he wonders if she ever did love him...because narcissists do that at the beginning, then change on a dime as if the person doesn't mean shit to them anymore. Been there done that and this song is a dead ringer for it.
