Little Red Rooster Lyrics
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
Keep everything in the farm yard upset in every way
The dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Watch out strange cat people
Little red rooster's on the prowl
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
Ain't had no peace in the farm yard
Since my little red rooster's been gone
Too lazy to crow for day
I am the little red rooster
Too lazy to crow for day
Keep everything in the farm yard upset in every way
Dogs begin to bark and hounds begin to howl
Watch out strange cat people
Little red rooster's on the prowl
Please drive him home
If you see my little red rooster
Please drive him home
Ain't had no peace in the farm yard
Since my little red rooster's been gone

Classic blues metaphor for the onset of impotence ...
This was written by Willie Dixon for Howlin Wolf...one of the bluesmen the Stones admired greatly.
Dad adores this one..I need to hear it!
productofthe80s, get moving and when you get, absorb it it is soooooo right
Yes, you are right.Classic blues. The slide guitar sounds great, Mick is pristine..Gold.
I think Brian Jones played the slide guitar for this song not Mick Taylor. I'm guessing you meant Mick Jagger's singing. This was used on the intro of the movie about Brian Jones called "Stoned".
Great tune!! Very suggestive I believe in nature especially round the original time it was written. Always why I loved the stones more than the Beatles...never strayed from their roots and always an R n B/Blues rooted band with sleaze!! Great Wolf/Dixon classic that Stones pay homage to and very well too!!
Anyone who knows anything about music in the early days knows that artists were always using code to get songs past the censor. Rock'n'roll actually means sex! "If you see my little red rooster, please drive him home". Think about it. Willie Dixon knew what he was writing about and it wasn't about a farmyard bird.
For all the talk about their bloated rock and roll circus (jealously) the Rolling Stones are still the best blues band going. When they go back to basics it becomes apparent that no one can do it better, even in their dotage. That is probably why the old Blues masters accepted them, not purely for business reasons. That is why their new album is something to look forward to and not just another hyped product made by dinosaurs.
