Gomper Lyrics
By the lake with lily flowers
While away the evening hours
To and fro she's gently gliding
On the glassy lake she's riding
She swims to the side
The sun sees her dried
The birds hover high
I'd stifle a cry
The birds hover high
She moans with a sigh
While away the evening hours
To and fro she's gently gliding
On the glassy lake she's riding
The sun sees her dried
The birds hover high
I'd stifle a cry
She moans with a sigh

I just downloaded and listened to this song for the first time. I didn't expect to like it and I didn't. The Stones are great at blues, rock, rockabilly, disco/rock, country--but not psychedlic music.
Hey thats bullshit, this song is fantastic, as is other psycodelic stuff theyve done, its tellin a wierd and wonderful story with great descriptions, if you dont appreciate it, then.. youre a cock.
Totally. This is one of the best psychedelic songs I've ever heard. Awesome imagery and groovy effects. I really have no idea what this song is about. LSD?
Totally. This and "The End" by The Doors are my 2 favorite psychedelic songs. The Rolling Stones may have only done 1 psychedelic album, but it was a masterpiece from the psychedelic era. I really have no idea what this song is about. No doubt the imagery and sounds were inspired by LSD.
A beautiful woman, swimming on a pristine lake, probably somewhere in the Himalayas. Mick, perhaps having had one too many mushrooms, is unable to swim himself, however, he is having the time of his life just watching from the shore.
It is downright palpable, visually, audibly and olfactoraly, especially when she comes out of the cold water to dry in the sun...
Clear enough what is being evoked here, as it is brilliantly done. However, I really wonder what "Gomper" means
