Down Colorful Hill Lyrics
out of the box
down colorful hill
wind lifting tired feet
skin sensing challenge ahead
prayers prayers prayers
for success
prayers prayers prayers
always die in time
losing the dream
face to face sleeping
losing the dream
open mouth breathing
where unadmired beings
dread the due changes ahead
prayers prayers prayers
for success
prayers prayers prayers
always die in time
like empty roofs above
life for poor doves
like empty roofs above
rid of our love
down colorful hill
wind lifting tired feet
skin sensing challenge ahead
for success
prayers prayers prayers
always die in time
face to face sleeping
losing the dream
open mouth breathing
dread the due changes ahead
for success
prayers prayers prayers
always die in time
life for poor doves
like empty roofs above
rid of our love

For me, the song is about his love story:
first he discovers love with this girl, and they often go and have fun 'down colorful hill', in a big house and a small bed (as he says in "Medicine Bottle"). They use to sit on the roof of the house swinging their feet, lifted by the wind, but then he already feels that there are gonna be some challenges ahead. He prays, and prays, and prays for a successful love, hoping it will last, but (I think I can hear him saying 'Prayers unheard, always die in time" or "Prayers answered always die in time), even if he hopes so, the possibilities of a long love are few.
They keep going there and spend time together ('face to face sleeping'), but his love for her is fading away ('losing the dream'). He doesn't wonder about her anymore and he fears the changes coming, even if they were necessary. Here the music changes: the distorted guitar comes in and the drums start playing a very animated rhythm, signifying those changes. Then, his love stops, as the music sees a new melody growing now.
'Like empty roofs above Life for poor doves' They don't sit on the roof anymore, and now those roofs for poor and deceived 'doves' (he and her ex-love).
'Like empty roofs above Rid of our love' That's it: they don't love each other anymore. It ended, at last.
I love this song and this album. My god, I love it soooooooooo much.

what can this song be about? a love inevitably coming to an end? dreading the moment it is worded? whatever the case, it sure isn't a happy song. which makes it all the better ;)
i think it's about people that go throw life trying to get ahead no matter what and don't enjoy the journey. when they get to the end they die with nothing
