Citadel Lyrics

Men at arms shout, "Who goes there?"
We have journeyed far from here.
Armed with bibles make us swear.

Candy and Cathy, hope you both are well.
Please come see me in your Citadel

Flags are flying dollar bills
From the heights of concrete hills,
You can see the pinnacles.

Candy and Cathy, hope you both are well.
Please come see me in your Citadel.

In the streets of many walls
Here the peasants come and crawl
You can hear their numbers called.

Candy and Cathy, hope you both are well.
Please come see me in your Citadel.

Screaming people fly so fast
In their shiny metal cars
Through the woods of steel and glass.

Candy and Cathy, hope you both are well.
Please come see me in your Citadel.

This song is about Candy Darling - she was a warhol girl, more specifically she was a beautiful trans girl, one of the first in the united states to get on HRT ( hormone replacement therapy). You are missed Candy Darling.

Premetal; doomy fantasy lyrics, sung from a witness perspective. Massive riff. Big drums out of time, adding to sense of brewing chaos. The album is far more than an answer to Peppers.

that first tone is very bad for ears, can damage them if its playing very loud

Beautiful, poetic capturing of the spirit of modern urban life. A psychedelic rhapsody on the idea of the "citadel", ranging from "big city" imagery right on down to the very core of identity; that we erect the wall between "me" and "you" so we can play the game of individual identity.

And... Add to all that, the fact that Citadel is good old, solid, danceable, tranceable rock'n'roll! I was weaned on this stuff, and I still respond to it!

I have always REALLY liked those opening chords!

What are they?

They're good and loud of course, but why are they worse for our ears than other chords?

I think he/she was talking about that weird super high-pitched sound. I suspect it was laid on separately; sounds like picking behind the bridge of an electric. Great effect!
