High Voltage (Remix) Lyrics
I've been taking into crates ever since I was living in space
Before the rat race, before monkeys had human traits
Mastered numerology and big bang theology
I've been digging in the crates
Ever since I was living in space
Before the rat race, before monkeys had human traits
I mastered numerology and big bang theology
Preformed lobotomies with telekinetic psychology
Invented a mic so I could start blessing it
Chin checking kids to make my point like an impressionist
Many men have tried to shake us
But I twist my cords like double helix's
To show u what I'm made of
I buckle knees like leg braces
Cast a spell of instrumentalist on all of these MC's who hate us
Try on, leave u with out a shoulder to cry on
From now to infinity, let icons be bygones
I fire bombs ghostly notes haunt this
I tried threats but moved on to a promise
I stomp shit with or without an accomplice
And run the gauntlet with whoever that what this is
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringing u up and taking u down
High voltage
Coming at u from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
I've put a kink in the backbones of clones with microphones
Never satisfied my rhymes Jones
Spraying bright day over what u mite say
My blood type is krylon technicolor type a
On highways ripe with road rage
On pages of wind, cages of tin that bounce all around
Surround sound
Devouring the scenes
Subliminal gangrene paintings over all the same things
Sings songs karaoke copy bullshit
Break bones verbally with stick and stones tactics
Fourth dimension compact convection
Write rhymes with ease while the track stands at attention
Meant to put u away with
A pencil, pistol, official, sixteen lines, a rhymes missile
While you risk your all, I pick at all your flaws
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringin' u up and takin' u down
High voltage
Coming at u from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
High voltage
This is the unforgettable sound
High voltage
Bringin' u up and takin' u down
High voltage
Coming at u from every side
High voltage
Making the rhythm and rhyme collide
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes, sometimes, sometimes, sometimes
Sometimes I feel like I'm crawling
Misunderstood and under the gun
Like a new disease disease disease
Sometimes I feel like I'm crawling
Misunderstood and under the gun
Like a new disease disease disease

Mainly I think that the song is mainly about Linkin Park's style and how no one can replicate it. I also think they illustrate bands that copy other bands with the lyric: "I put a kink in the backbones of clones with microphones." I think that the use the lyric "the unforgettable sound" to say that their music is unique. Also it seems as if when Mike Shinoda sings in this song he sings with such clever and odd lyrics that he automatically proves that no one goes on the same level as he does. I think this song is a whimsical rhyming masterpiece.
Download it or find it on the "one step closer" single.
Anyway, the main thing that attracted me to this was the big words. Nevermind what they mean, he uses large complex words in his rap. In the mainstream rap circle, its all about short and simple rhymes, and doesn't stray very far from the main subjects of drugs, biznatches, and benzez.
Here... we find something that really isn't very much deeper but is refreshing in the rhyming technique.
"Sprayin’ bright day over what you might say My Blood type's Krylon Technicolor type A "
When i first heard that I said to myself "That is the single coolest line ever, and I don't even know what it means." Just a damn good rap.
This version of the song (Three all together, truthfully. Each with a different meaning. Scary, eh'?) (I'm not canadian. >_>)
"You know what I mean You could put a label on a life, Put a label on a lifestyle
Sometimes... You know Put a label on how you wake up every morning And go to bed at night"
Well, thats self explainitory. The media is putting a label on this shit, and trying to keep it one-sided. It can't be Rock and rap, it has to be Either Rap, or Rock. Mike's part(s), (In all three) talk about his, the band, and Chester's evolution from the different bands they were in. You ever heard any of Mike's Xero songs? They ARe bland. The same sing-song karaoke Bullshit he complains about in these.
And like the rock and rap You know what I mean People act like you know Wow that’s a new invention That shits brand new We're constantly evolving It is constantly changing
The Priest is talking about how most people don't realize Rock and Rap have been together. At all, at that -- But it's been here for a while. (Run DMC anyone?)
There's a lot of change Everybody's always up with labels There ain’t no label for this shit They're always gonna try to put a label on it Try to create something So they can water it down
As before, the media, and people are putting a label on Everything nowa-days. Quit trying to label something and make it one-sided.
Chester's part (Sometimes I feel like a prophet...) is talking about how Chester qrites the songs, and each song is different. But he's under the gun, meaning he has to be careful about what he says. And how much emotion he puts in All of his work. And the band's work.
"You know what I mean, you can put a label on a lifestyle" The last line represents what the entire song is about, really. It's trying to say that instead of labelling something, someone, or ...Pretty much anything, Put a label on a lifestyle. That's the thing that needs a label. Concentrate on what's important, not this shit.
I have every single Linkin Park song ever in existence, Im a huge fan (Yes that includes Reanimation, Underground albums, Recharged, fucking everything lol)
This song is a very complex, and extremely colorfully lyrical. In a way, I believe this song is supposed to point out the fact that Linkin Park (if not Mike personally) can write as complex of lyrics as they can simple. In short, you should not underestimate them, because they will "pick up all your flaws" in the way you write lyrics, and top you off with something far greater. Linkin Park is an unforgettable sound, and the way Mike so confidently raps this song is pointing out the fact that he can be amazing with ease, and he is not worried about his abilities to be a great artist.
To Days of the New..
He's not really talking about other bands, he's talking about other emcee's. If it's Rap Rock, or just pure rap, he's talking about how some are unoriginal and that they aren't good if they just listen to Top 40 Rap. Shinoda wanted to be a rapper, and then the guitarist did a version of Stairway to Heaven and he got the inspiration to do Rock Rap. Mike Shinoda is a rapper. The song was released before they were Linkin Park, but they were called "Hybrid Theory", a rap/rock band.
i think both of you are right in your own ways, and it also sounds to me that mike is bragging ( a little) in how good and originaly fresh he is ( which is absoluletly the truth) and in a way you know, why not brag if you know that your good. as long as you dont brag to much cause that gets a lot of people to stop liking him. look what happened to eminem!!
I just think it's a kick ass song with a kick ass sound. I don't really pay much attention to the lyrics.
I think he talks about emcees and ow they dont have anything original or worth hearing he has a good point
Pretty much everything everyone has said here is true. One thing I wanna mention is that "Akira" is in the song because that was Mike's street/nick name from when he was a teen. Plus, he and Joe really like the Anime! :)
aaahhhhhh Where do you find this song???????
