Radio Silence Lyrics
Let it sing,
Let it die,
And roll out the carpets.
No such thing,
You mustn't pry,
All hail to another confession.
And it's losing me,
Where have all the merrymakers gone?
Some people will surprise you with a real depth of feeling,
and others still may shock you with all that they're revealing.
But one thing's sure,
there's always more information than you ask for. (Ask for this)
Just enough knowledge to know I don't know anything,
Anything, anything, anything, I don't know.
Nobody likes what I like,
that's how I like it.
Some things are personal (at least they should be)
Or is it too much to ask you just to maintain a little,
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
(Take the cynical saint to the stake and burn it)
It's radio radio silence silence.
Let it die,
And roll out the carpets.
No such thing,
You mustn't pry,
All hail to another confession.
And it's losing me,
and others still may shock you with all that they're revealing.
But one thing's sure,
there's always more information than you ask for. (Ask for this)
Anything, anything, anything, I don't know.
Nobody likes what I like,
that's how I like it.
Some things are personal (at least they should be)
Or is it too much to ask you just to maintain a little,
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
Maintain a little
(Take the cynical saint to the stake and burn it)

"Let it sing/let it die"- Could be saying let it run its course and let it be afterwards. Or on the other hand, after it happens, sing about it for closure. The rest of the song implies the former explanation, though. I like this song a lot, but I'd have to disagree. John Lennon's confessions about his childhood (his "primal scream" days) were theraputic not only for him but for me as the listener. Other people's pain isn't always about economic growth, it could be personal growth. It may help other people feel not so alone in a world where a lot of people get distraught over the littlest things and don't know what pain is.
I suppose it all comes down to where you draw the line of confessions...your moral standards and such. I don't think revealing too much will destroy someone's dignity, because problems are often solved and allievated after they are put down on paper and scrutinized. That's just my opinion.
Still, one of my favorite Harvey Danger songs. Well written and powerfuly voiced.
But then again, what is this, as any other song, other than a confession? Without revealing shock, there would be a lot of radio silence...
Yea, I love that part of the song. At the end is it backmasking? that would be cool if it said something straight forward. Someone should check.
in the simplest, most basic terms, "You're providing me with too much information, in the gentlest way, shut the fuck up."
Dear God, No Replies? I love this song, their lead singer puts so much emotion into it, and i love the "Some ppl will surprise you with a real depth of feeling others still may shock you with all that they're revealing." I don't know exactly what this song is about, but i like it, alot
in a very superficial sense, this song is about the yellow journalism of the entertainment industry.
it has been said that it was inspired by fiona apple's over-openness about her tumultous past.
this song is about people who give you sob stories and want sympathy and $
This is one of the most awesome songs.
Which is why it's kind of sad that the "NeoNess" butchered the lyrics so horribly. Not only is it filled with wrong lyrics, but some parts of the song were kept out completely.
Heh.
"Nobody likes what I like, that's how I like it. Somethings are personal, at least they should be."
You left out the line that makes the song what it is.
i made a montage of my school radio's best bits over this, kinda ruined it
