Carlotta Valdez Lyrics
Jimmy Stewart follows Kim
To where your portrait hangs on a wall
He's such a haunting vision
he forgets his partner's fall
He jump into the San Francisco bay
I'll follow you in
When I know you can't swim
When you've been down 100 years, Carlotta
Carlotta Valdez, Carlotta Valdez
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her
Everything's subjective
Nothing lasts but Johnny O
Kiss Kim Novak
Where the redwoods grow
I'll bleach her hair
And pretend that she didn't die
Go up the mission step, I'll follow anywhere
That is until you climb too high
'Cause I get vertigo, vertigo, vertigo
Carlotta Valdez, Carlotta Valdez
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her
What a thing to be
The center of attention all the time
He isn't really falling for this, is he?
He's getting dizzy and so am I
Carlotta Valdez, Carlotta Valdez
Carlotta Valdez, I got her
Carlotta Valdez, Carlotta Valdez
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her
To where your portrait hangs on a wall
He's such a haunting vision
he forgets his partner's fall
I'll follow you in
When I know you can't swim
When you've been down 100 years, Carlotta
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her
Nothing lasts but Johnny O
Kiss Kim Novak
Where the redwoods grow
And pretend that she didn't die
Go up the mission step, I'll follow anywhere
That is until you climb too high
'Cause I get vertigo, vertigo, vertigo
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her
The center of attention all the time
He isn't really falling for this, is he?
He's getting dizzy and so am I
Carlotta Valdez, I got her
Carlotta Valdez, Carlotta Valdez
Carlotta Valdez, I will make you her

It was never necrophilia...are you sure you're watching the same movie?! Vertigo is one of the best films ever made!
on the most superficial level, this song is about the Alfred Hitchcock movie "Vertigo".
i love the lines: I'll follow you in I know you can't swim When you've been dead 100 years, carlotta his voice along with the beat is incindere. this song puts me in such a good mood
Maybe that's all about, cynicalsaint. I tried to watch that movie and it made me gag. Too much necrophilia for me. I am not a fan of Six Feet Under.
As previous comments said, it's about the movie Vertigo by Alfred Hitchcock.
"He isn't really falling for this, is he?"
One line to sum up the whole movie, really...Vertigo has one of the most wonderful plots ever, and I love how in a few verses, you really get a vivid picture of the film. It's such a mindfuck, and I love how this song pokes fun at how yanked around the main character is. Very clever...the music itself gives off that whole dizzy feeling as well.
As others have noted, a breakdown of key scenes in the film Vertigo.
Legion of Honor art museum – Where your portrait hangs. Jump into the San Francisco Bay – Fort Point under the Golden Gate Bridge. Muir Woods – Where the redwoods grow. Mission San Juan Bautista - The mission stairs.
"I will make you her." - When Jimmy Stewart encounters Kim Novak after her staged death, he believes she's a different woman, but tries to dress her like the "dead" woman, both played by Kim Novak.
And a brilliant pun: "He isn't really falling for this, is he?" - The Jimmy Stewart character falls for a deception, and he is also terrified of heights, almost falling on multiple suspenseful occasions.
