Left Of The Middle Lyrics
End of the third round, As I put the phone down,
Chasing the same lines, Over the old ground,
I'm pushing zero, Where is my hero,
He's out there somewhere,
Left of the middle, And your world falls down,
And your there calling out,
But it's something I can't say,
Though it seems the only way,
But it's a game that I can't play,
Not today, I got my ticket,
And I got a straight road,
But i'm passing the same signs,
Over and Over,
And my world falls down,
And i'm there calling out,
But it's something I cannot say,
Though it seems the only way,
But it's a game that I can't play,
Not today, I need to tell you,
Trying to get through,
It's not always easy,
Left of the middle,
Chasing the same lines, Over the old ground,
I'm pushing zero, Where is my hero,
He's out there somewhere,
Left of the middle, And your world falls down,
And your there calling out,
But it's something I can't say,
Though it seems the only way,
But it's a game that I can't play,
Not today, I got my ticket,
And I got a straight road,
But i'm passing the same signs,
Over and Over,
And my world falls down,
And i'm there calling out,
But it's something I cannot say,
Though it seems the only way,
But it's a game that I can't play,
Not today, I need to tell you,
Trying to get through,
It's not always easy,
Left of the middle,

this song is beautiful. definitely my favorite by her.
this is my favorite song by her also.. I cried when I heard the verse "and my world falls down // and I'm there calling out // but it's something I can't say // though it seems the only way.." :sigh:
Yeah, everyone who thinks 'Torn' is her best song, hasn't heard this. Fantastic lyrics
actually this is my least favorite in LOTM but it's still ok
I love this song because of the soft music, its more peaceful. some songs are to loud....i like the peace the song has
i just about died at that verse too sullen tears..very moving
She is unhappy in a mediocre relaitonship in which she is not put first by her mate. She is trying to tlel him its hard to communicate her feelings, but even tellng him this proves impossible. great song.
I think it's about the end of a relationship. She's been fighting with her boyfriend/husband then she moves out. She can't keep going through the same things over and over and she can't keep fighting over the same things. Finally she's had enough and as sad and hard as it is, they have to accept that it's over.
The lyrics above is incomplete in which has great significance to the song. She changed the last chorus to: “And my world falls down And YOUR there calling out”
This is my take on the song. Left of the middle means someone really close, a friend/ an ex. On the contrary “she” is always on his right side of the middle. Whenever “she” has a fight with her current boyfriend (“I got my ticket, and I got a straight road”), the friend/ex is the first person that she calls for comfort, and vice versa.
The line “But it's something I can't say, Though it seems the only way, But it's a game that I can't play, Not today”. It’s the same lines/bullshit that “she” says to him over and over… Somewhere along the lines of “relationships aren’t always easy, your girlfriend is the one for you”. But truly, “she” loves him very much and he makes “her” happy. Again it goes back to the title of the song, whenever “she” hold (held) on his right hand she is always happy.
Towards the end of a relationship, you keep trying to talk sense into the other party but you end up just arguing in circles, and you come to the realization that the two of you CANNOT and MUST NOT get back together, that ship has simply sailed.
There are moments of momentary weakness and you may call out to each other, but you know you cannot respond cause that would just continue the vicious cycle.
It's not easy not being someone's center of attention, you lament at first - that someone is out there free as a bird. But after you''ve finally firmed up and cut him loose, suddenly empty and bereft, you come to understand that it's not easy being free, either.
