King Of The Thing Lyrics
its been a long long time, since i lost myself
put my pride down on the table, put my fear on the shelf
so i bought myself a thrown to reside and let myself go
but ive travelled much too far, where ive gone i'll never know
(chorus)
what a long, long time
long, long time
It's been a little old while since i felt so fine
wanderin' in the rain
losing my mind
what a long, long time x2
my days i've spent relaxing turned to nights relaxin' too
a thousand eyes upon me, but my sights are missing you
so this time i swear i will loosen my grip
on past times, and bad lines, and meaningless trips.
chorus
so, over and over mile signs pass by my side
the more you try to find yourself the more you tend to hide
behind these forest trees and greens that blind your eyes
to lounge upon that thrown i bought,
confer there with the wise
chorus
so here we appear, the rest lost themselves in a pit of fear
for who? what can i do? but let them all come through the wall
and though some oppose many of these things i know
i'll stay here alone, and lose myself on the riverways of days
i'm coming home.
chorus
put my pride down on the table, put my fear on the shelf
so i bought myself a thrown to reside and let myself go
but ive travelled much too far, where ive gone i'll never know
what a long, long time
long, long time
It's been a little old while since i felt so fine
wanderin' in the rain
losing my mind
what a long, long time x2
a thousand eyes upon me, but my sights are missing you
so this time i swear i will loosen my grip
on past times, and bad lines, and meaningless trips.
the more you try to find yourself the more you tend to hide
behind these forest trees and greens that blind your eyes
to lounge upon that thrown i bought,

for who? what can i do? but let them all come through the wall
and though some oppose many of these things i know

this is an excellent song it makes you feel in love
those lyrics are ridiculously wrong
Someone sent a correction and I fixed. Hope it's better now.
This song does not make me feel in love! Love is typically a good thing, this song makes me depressed! Totally love the song don't get me wrong, and OAR is off the hizel, but makes me realize that most people are hopeless romantics at heart! If you like this song, make sure to check out all the rest of OAR songs, and you might want to consider listening to DISPATCH.
i love this song and this lyric in particular: "the more you try to find yourself the more you tend to hide" its just so true.
Hey WEMIGHTBEGIANTS, What is a Hizel?
i believe hizel is ghetto slang for hook, but i don't know, i'm a honky
What are you talking about, it's depressing? Hell no, the song is so upbeat it isn't even funny. He's talking about enlightenement, finding himself. He's decided to stop trying so hard and just relax, because it comes easier that way anyways "the more you try to find yourself the more you tend to hide." He's "loosening his grip" and "conferring with the wise" and "losing himself on the riverways of days" Taoists talk about the Tao as being like water, flowing. Going with the flow is common to many religions anyways. He finds it's easier to go with the flow than to struggle to live up to some ideal, and finds that the ideal is acheived in letting it go. Amazing song...
This is my favorite song. when i first got it i listened to it 20 times strait listening to the lyrics to understand and now just hearing the melody helps me relax. Its all about relaxing and letting life come to you. OAR is awesome!
anyone else think this song is talking about psychoactive drugs (ie: shrooms, LSD: aka acid). i know OAR arent a band of drug overusers or anything like that. it may be hard to understand if you have never tried a psychoactive drug before, but if you think of the song being about that, and look at the lyrics with that in mind, it should make sense to you.
