Stereotypes Lyrics
The suburbs, they are dreaming
They're a twinkle in her eye
She's been feeling frisky
Since her husband said goodbye
She wears a low cut T-shirt, runs a little B&B
She's most accommodating when she's in her lingerie
Wife swapping is the future
You know that it would suit you
Yes, they're stereotypes
There must be more to life
All your life you're dreaming
And then you stop dreaming
From time to time you know
You should be going on another bender
The suburbs they are sleeping
But he's dressing up tonight
She likes a man in uniform
He loves to wear it tight
They're on the lover's sofa
They're on the patio
And when the fun is over, watch themselves on video
The neighbors may be staring
But they are just past caring
Yes, they're stereotypes
There must be more to life
All your life you're dreaming
And then you stop dreaming
From time to time you know
You're going on another bender
Yes, there must be more to life
Then stereotypes
Wife swapping is the future
You know that it would suit you
Yes, they're stereotypes
There must be more to life
All your life you're dreaming
And then you stop dreaming
From time to time you know

What really attracts my attention about the lyrics of this song is that it doesn't own apparently a clear connection with its title. But just apparently... Ok, people that live in suburbs are supposed to be predictable and everyone seems to live in 'the right way' on this kind of place, but nothing is what it seems. Therefore it's called "Stereotypes" for showing how mistaken you can be when you decide to 'label' other people based only on their looks...
Favourte blur song, great intro
What does "sterotypes" refer to? Wife swapping?Or something else? I think it's a great song to listen to because of the great tunes.
It means putting people into a certain category. For instance a stereotype of a teenager would be lazy and smokes pot etc.
It's about a woman who has a particularly active sex life since her husband died.
By the way, i'm pretty sure she runs a local bnb (e.g. 'bed and breakfast' hotel), not bmw.
"...and when the night falls that nice widow becomes a 'tornado' in the bed!"
i think that maybe, she's not a widow, she's just cheating on her husband, her husband said goodbye, maybe gone for a while, on a business travel or just to work... anyway, the way that i feel it, it's just what the chorus says, life is more than stupid stereotypes...
This song is AWESOME
AMAZING GUITAR!!!!
