There it was.
The final destiny.
A sunrise that never came,
still the night lamp that never faded away.
Farewell was the word,
and the afterglow was the brave morning.
Rising and telling everyone
about the beauty of its PROLOGUE.

I thought this track was just an instrumental...
It is, at least the one I have
it is an instrumental. They just put lyrics in to finish off the story. They aren't actually sung. Same goes for Prologue.
The solo in this song is awesome.
Yeah, if you have My Arms Your Hearse, you see they wrote lyrics for Prologue, Madrigal, and Epilogue. None of the lyrics were used, though.
Personally, I think the song is the most beautiful piece of music Opeth has ever done, and the lyrics basically double that. Hell, my computer background at university has those lyrics on it, heh.
i think this song is about sunrise..kinda makes since b/c it is at the end of their record
I think the first part is about the ghost realizing his destiny no longer involves him actively being a part of her life, but also realizing that he will never completely fade away from her memory, so he's saying farewell as the sun rises.
i agree with Sniper as i also think this is the most beautiful piece of music i have heard
Stunning solo. Under-rated Opeth song, IMO.
I like how this song allows the album to 'repeat' endlessly by referring to the prologue.
