Under The Weeping Moon Lyrics
Once again I've cried
Unto the moon
That burning flame
That has guided me
Through all these years
The lake from which you flow
With eyes of fire
Once unlit but now alive
This energy, sparkling
Like a morning star
The morning star
Riding the fires of
The northern gold
I've searched the eye
I laugh under the weeping moon
I am the watcher in the skies
Nor the emeralds know my mark
Glisten to mark their presence
Set the enigma ablaze
Searching...
Finding...
Burn the winter landmarks
That said I was there
Burn the spirit of cold
That travel through my soul
Unto the moon
That burning flame
That has guided me
Through all these years
The lake from which you flow
Once unlit but now alive
This energy, sparkling
Like a morning star
The northern gold
I've searched the eye
I laugh under the weeping moon
Nor the emeralds know my mark
Glisten to mark their presence
Set the enigma ablaze
Searching...
Finding...
That said I was there
Burn the spirit of cold
That travel through my soul

I was at an Opeth concert once last year and Akerfeldt actually said before playing the opening riff that it was a song about absolutely nothing, with no meaning whatsoever...still kicks ass though!
Absolute awesome tune.
On their newest live album "The Roundhouse Tapes", Åkerfeldt said before they began playing this track, that this lyrics is just pure black metal nonesense.
i've just discovered that a mountain in East Zimbabwe has a mountain called weeping moon and its said that deep underground it there are reptilians/demons and that people go missing there. Coincidence or not the song kicks ass
according to the band, just a evil nonsense song: The most evil song on the album, said Lindgren, the lyrics for "Under the Weeping Moon" were "some kind of satanic worship of the moon. It doesn't really deal with anything", according to Ã…kerfeldt
id reccomend this song to all fans of Opeth---it's on Orchid, therefore, its badass
This is easily one of the top 5 Opeth songs. The part where he sings "I laugh under the weeping moon" kicks so much ass.
its a good song , but the other songs on orchid are bettter if you dont count silhoutte en requim.
to be honest, i have absolutely no idea what this song is about
well i dunno, but during the mellow part I can't help but imagine lots of evil things and feeling like the devil's gonna f*ck me hahaha
Yeah, the comment Mikael made on The Roundhouse Tapes made me look properly at the lyrics. And I agree, it sure doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Great song though.
It's about some kind of satanic worship of the moon.. Akerfeldt is never really direct about what the meanin is behind their first two albums lyrics most of the time. I think it's because he's not into the occult like he was at that time anymore.. He probably thinks what was it thinking.. I think is awesome occult or not. Love this album
