ok we all know sonic youth is amazing i don't wanna hear a dozen comments about it. anyone know the comments should interpret the lyrics? anyway since i couldn't figure out anything from the other geniuses i will say that this song is dedicated to Thurston's deceased friend Andy Warhol who was a supporter of the pop art movement. lyrics flow suprisingly well and seem to be an artistic tribute. obviously a punk song, it seems to attack NASA for spending too much government funds for seemingly useless missions...("can't stop it, burning a hole in yr pocket")
It's about heroin. The silver rocket is the syringe. its a bad habit that jades you while taking you to other worlds. The surreal transcendental imagery echoes William Burroughs, who they would later collaborate with.

This is one of my favorite songs. The TV video on their website is ridiculous. The noise breakdown is one of the best guitar pieces in history. Well, it's my favorite at least.

One of the best off DN, I'd say. The riff is great, and the instrumental bridge building up to the second verse is amazing.
