One Vision Lyrics

God works in mysterious ways, mysterious ways
Ii
Hey, one man, one goal ha, one mission
One heart, one soul just one solution
One flash of light yeah, one God, one vision

One flesh, one bone
One true religion
One voice, one hope
One real decision
Wowowowowowo gimme one vision
Hey

No wrong, no right
I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white
No blood, no stain
All we need is one world wide vision

One flesh, one bone
One true religion
One race, one hope
One real decision
Wowowowowo woh yeah oh yeah oh yeah

I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they've done to my dream, yeah

One vision
So give me your hands
Give me your hearts
I'm ready
There's only one direction
One world, one nation
Yeah one vision

No hate, no fight
Just excitation
All through the night
It's a celebration
Wowowowowowo yeah
One one one one one one one
One vision hey one vision one vision one vision one vision

One flesh, one bone
One true religion
One voice, one hope
One real decision

Gimme one light, yeah
Gimme one hope, hey
Just gimme, ha
One man one man
One bar one night
One day hey hey
Just gimme gimme gimme gimme
Fried chicken vision vision vision vision vision

actually it was originally written about martin luther king. I think they might have changed it slightly to work in the film Iron Eagle.

i totally agree with lukefun on this one. it is about the whole world uniting to work together. first of all it details how he comes upon the way to do this, it was just "one man", which was him, "one goal, one mission", both of which are worldwide unity. then he has "one flash of light" a flash of inspiration if you will, or as he implies by "one God, one vision", a vision from God. then he goes into detailing his aim,"One flesh, one bone One true religion", the whole world as one. "No wrong, no right" means that everyone will be free to do as they wish, not tied down by other peoples expectations."I'm gonna tell you there's no black and no white" is OBVIOUSLY not a racist remark, hes purely saying how the titles "black and white" will no longer need to be applied, everyone will be equal. "No blood, no stain" is just saying how there will no longer be any wars, no blood shed, no stains left on the hands of soldiers or murderers or anyone who kills, no-one will feel the need to kill, everyone will be happy and content. then things turn bad. he feels dissolusioned. "A dream of sweet illusion" is him detailing how he felt conned into beleiving everything could be perfect by giving a "A glimpse of hope and unity" through his dream/inspiration mentioned earlier. but a "cold wind blows,And a dark rain falls, Look what they've done to my dream" shows how no matter how perfect the dream, and how good it is, someone always manages to balls it up and ruin everything. but he still fights on. his dream is too important to be ruined by one mishap. he says "So give me your hands,Give me your hearts", and to me this means that he is trying to repair the damage done, and he is trying to reunite everyone again. he tells them that this time it is going to work, and there is only one way for it, "There's only one direction, One world, one nation". notice throughout the song he says "one something", as if looking to the future, but here he says "there's only one direction". there IS only one direction. this shows how it is no longer a pipe dream, but the way forward, or else the world is ruined. "No hate, no fight Just excitation All through the night It's a celebration Wowowowowowo yeah One one one one one one one One vision hey one vision one vision one vision one vision

One flesh, one bone One true religion One voice, one hope One real decision" basically him saying how everyone is united. i think the writer is trying to cover everything not to make the song longer, but so that he doesnt miss anything out, so he can show that ALL people should be united, no matter of their differences, because when it gets down to it people are all the same. deep inside we all feel the same emotions and deserve the same things. i think that when he says "one decision" he is saying that everyone has to make the decision to unite, and that they all have to make this decision if unity is to succeed. "Gimme one light, yeah, Gimme one hope, hey" is him saying that he just need a glimmer of hope (from God?) to see that he can make this world succeed. i seriously doubt that this song is advertising the advantages of totalitarianism. Freddy was a man who had great affection for other people and was very emotional, and i think that this was him saying how he felt the world should unite and banish all the evil things, that we should all help each other and make everyone equal, that for no more time should people in east africa be dying of starvation while westerners turn into gluttons. although, i feel in this sense he is being slightly hypocritical in the way that he was vastly rich, but i have no idea how generous he was with his money or efforts in attempting equality, so i have no right to judge him. ALSO, the song rocks!it has an AMAZING tune, linked with meaningful lyrics (take not of this GREENDAY [you suck]). another peice of magic for the ears by Queen.

@mincepies686 agreed. Also you have to keep in mind it was a very divisive period , this is pre berlin wall coming down, the cultural significance of which was STAGGERING at the time. No offence but the kids today simply cannot fathom this :)

Hmm...I'd actually have to say that this song seems pretty totalitarian.

It seems that the person who this song concerns believed that making everything one would create the ideal society, a society in which everybody was the same. As he got older he realized that this would be impossible, as you can't force everybody to think the same. He is now lamenting about this in an incredibly rockin' way.

In an alternate interpretation, the narrator actually created this world he invisioned, but it all comes crashing down on him when he realizes that nobody's really any better off, hence the line "look what they've done to my dream"

And even though this is irrelevent, I think that when he says "I'm ready" he sounds a lot like Chris Tucker.

Oh, and the fried chicken line is bizarre. I think it's there because you expect to hear "one vision" so much that the words "fried chicken" are ridiculously funny (at least to me they are).

Actually, it was a joke made by the singer during the recording of the song : the band was going to have fried chicken for lunch... Freddie Mercury didn't want to keep this line at first, but his lover, Jim Hutton, encouraged him, and the chicken finally stayed. lol,if you record mgrca, and listen to it back words it says "I, mgrca am a dumb motherf'er"

the words are orginating from the prophet Mohammed. The writer of the song has a nightmare, not creepy at all when you listen very good. It's more like a warning against fasism

yah... reminds me of Nazi propaganda, "ein volk, ein reich, ein fuhrer" (one people one reich one fuhrer) quite ironically, martika....... good song though

It sounds like a double meaning song. At first it seems to be about totalitarianism. The slogans sound great, but there's an underlying note of pain to it all.

It also seems to be about the flip side, about one vision for peace and unity being everyone getting together and being happy. "No blood, no stain..." No violence. Almost an MLK, Ghandi thing going there.

Seems like more than one vision for a perfect world is being described in this song.

This song is blatantly a rally for world peace. How there should only be one religion as religion leads to war. How he only has one vision, a vision of world peace. He's not being racist when he says "one race", I think that's an endorsement of racial equality.

Amen, brother.
