This Road Lyrics
All heavy laden
acquainted with sorrow
May Christ in our marrow,
carry us home
From alabaster
come blessings of laughter
A fragrance of passion
and joy from the truth
Grant the unbroken
tears ever flowing
From hearts of contrition
only for You
May sin never hold true
that love never broke through
For God's mercy holds us
and we are His own
This road that we travel,
may it be the straight and narrow
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day
Shelter with fire,
our voices we raise still higher
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day through
This road that we travel,
may it be the straight and narrow
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day
Shelter with fire,
our voices we raise still higher
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day through
acquainted with sorrow
May Christ in our marrow,
carry us home
come blessings of laughter
A fragrance of passion
and joy from the truth
tears ever flowing
From hearts of contrition
only for You
May sin never hold true
that love never broke through
For God's mercy holds us
and we are His own
may it be the straight and narrow
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day
Shelter with fire,
our voices we raise still higher
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day through
may it be the straight and narrow
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day
Shelter with fire,
our voices we raise still higher
God give us peace and grace from You,
all the day through

I absolutely love this song. It's totally what I wish for everyone I know and it's so beautiful. People are going to come and go throughout our lives and songs like this help make it easier I think.
"This road that we travel may it be the straight and narrow"
"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." -Matthew 7:13-14
i first heard this song a retreat that i went on. it was the final day of an emotially exhausting retreat, and this song put a lot of things into perspective for me. the song really pulled all of us together towards the end of high school. even though i am not a christian any more, i could understand the message that the song was conveying.
the path to our destination is not always a straight one. we go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. maybe what matters most is that we embark on a road to begin with.
guess this is one of those songs which basically wishes the wellness of others while departing, esp in a christian contacts i'd say. when friends ahev to part ways you know that at the back of your head the spiritual journey still goes on and though u might not be able to see each other as often due to work perhaps, the friendship can still be kept through prayer and encouraging one another via email/messenger/sms/calling, whatever it takes just to let the other know that they arent walking this journey to eternity alone.
I love this song! I don't remember how i stumbled on this song, but it is now one of my favorites. It really does put things into perspective for me and it is such a humbling song.
no no no...it's not about friends departing. it's for people whose lives are crap. all the people that are worn out from constantly dealing with sorrows of some sort. it's wishing wellness to other but that wellness being joy that only God can bring. he wants people whose lives are dull to be filled with laughter.
the next stanze switches to a totally different group. Unbroken in this sense is a bad thing! Psalm 51:17 says God will not despise a broken and contrite heart. when we are not broken, we become satisfied and don't rely on Him like we should. we become self-reliant and lose focus all together. in the same chapter and verse 8 it says God has broken our bones and we rejoice for it. he wants them to be broken so they can taste the goodness of God. and as for the straight and narrow part, malli covered that...
great song and great message
