Endless, Nameless Lyrics

Silence, here I am
Here I am, silent
Bright and clear, it's what I am
I have died

Mother
Mother
Mother
Mother

Death and violence
Excitement, right here
Died, go to hell
Here I am, right here
Ow

Mother
No más
No más
Mamá

Death is what I am
Go to hell, go to jail
In back of that crime
Here I am, take a chance
Dead
Die

Endless, Nameless was made when Kurt got pissed over one of the recordings for Nevermind was going.. he couldn't get one of the songs(I forget which one) right and so he just started doing this, and the band followed. :B Oddly, this is one of my favorites on the cd

I definately would not argue against the likelihood that this song's lyrics came out of an unplanned, stream of consciousness "rambling". However, I would not void the lyrics of meaning for that reason. Actually, that is an highly effective method to get to the heart of some matter or to get a reading on what's going on inside someone (including, especially, the unconscious level). This is why in English 101 students are asked to do all those "free writes" prior to "real writing".

If one views the lyrics in that light, they become extremely meaningful and personal (to the author), IMHO. Expressions of the deepest pain, hopelessness to the point of feeling death is not only on the horizon, it may have already occured, and the calling for "mother" that is universal to everyone who is feeling at their "end"..i.e. the classic common knowledge that nearly all soldiers call for "mama" when they are dying of a mortal wound on the battlefield.

@livedreamincolor Totally agree on what you said on your first paragraph. I thought the same exact thing in regards to "Gallons Of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through The Strip", the other improvised song they did. Tons of hidden meaning in that one too. People underestimate Nirvana's lyrics sometimes. I hear some criticism how their songs don't make any sense but that's really selling them way too short.

endless nameless was a recording that Kurt and the band have been working on (to make an actual song.)

after endless takes of lithium, Kurt got really frustrated. Actually coming to a point where he said somthing like, "fuck it. just hit it" then they started up endless nameless.

The version on With The Lights Out, is their professional version of the song.. (believe it or not, haha jk)

the actual take was released with the fist 1,000 copies of nevermind. The version on there is the one RIGHT after the litium sessions.

(sorry this took so long, but i had to get my point through)

I've heard this song came off of a mistake that Kurt kept on making while playing Lithium

The song is about Kurts stomach problems. At the end of it, if you listen carefully you can hear him scream the words "Fire, Inside" as if he is in deep pain. I dont know thats just what I think lol But yes, it is a fucking awesome somg.

@walkingabortion Somg is cool!
