Mr. Moustache Lyrics

Fill me in on your new vision
Wake me up with indecision
Help me trust your mighty wisdom
Yes I eat cow - I am not proud.

Show me how you question, question
Lead the way to my temptations
Take my hand and keep it clean
Yes I eat cow - I am not proud.

Is he in an easy chair? (Alt: Easy in an easy chair)
-- Poop as hard as a rock.
I don't like you anyway
-- Seal it in a box

I'm new
Now you

Fill me in on your new vision
Wake me up with indecision
Help me trust your mighty wisdom
Yes I eat cow - I am not proud.

Show me how you question, question
Lead the way to my temptations
Take my hand and keep it clean
Yes I eat cow - I am not proud.

Is he in an easy chair? (Alt: Easy in an easy chair)
-- Poop as hard as rock.
I don't like you anyway
-- Seal it in a box

(x2)
I'm new
Now you

If you guys knew anything about Kurt and or his lyrics youd know that this sone deals about thw racist bastards out there....Do more searching on Kurt and youd find a cartoon that he drew about a racist called Mr Mustache....That was the name thought up by Kurt describing the lazy beer drinking jew and black hating women exploiting men out there

its not about macho males (only the title is) its about the opposite. its about those who are (to) political correct with their veganisme, anti-sexism etc. (its explained in the come as you are - book, but i'm to lazy to get it and copy it here)

I've not read that, but I prefer to think of the song being about both, not one or the other. But I think you're half right.

Not Valid

I like the little comic that Kurt did explaining the song. Tough legs for a baby...

This song actually has a bit of a tune and the words sound good together. The band came out with a lot of pro-vegetarian sounding lines in their songs, like in "Something In The Way" where the line goes, "It's ok to eat fish cuz they don't have any feelings" (being sarcastic). This song to me seems like it's aimed at someone who thinks they can do it all or explain it all (Fill me up on your new vision...help me trust your mighty wisdom...etc) but Cobain is doubting them, which has never happened to that person before or something. I don't know, I mean, I've listened to the song before, but I never quite thought about what it means. Now reading the lyrics I came up with my theory but the theory about the macho man one seems good as well.

yeah this song definetly attacks stereotypical males, and it isnt about words sounding good together, they definetly make sense to me anywho. it sounds to me like he is having an argument with one of these types in his head, and that the macho guy is trying to belittle him. one of his arguments probably is "well you eat meat too." thus the yes i eat cow i am not proud line. reminds me of my dad because he has a moustache but my dad isnt completely like that....

Kurt despised macho men and therefore created a cartoon character called Mr. Moustache, in order to mock them. But I see this song as an argument between Mr. Moustache and someone completely opposite, most probably a vegetarian (because of the lyrics "Yes, I eat cow, I am not proud" and "poop as hard as rock", clearly being said by a vegetarian).

"Fill me in on your new vision...lead the way to my temptation" - this lyrics are ironical, that are the words you would say to someone you can't stand, without even trying to listen to them or to understand their point of view. In fact, the whole song is about two narrow minded people who are both convinced that their opinion is the only right way of thinking and both of them are doing everything to overrule the discussion, not caring at all what the other person has to say. They start to insult each other and their conversation is far from civilized.

The song is also about prejudices, about having a negative opinion about someone before you even start to communicate, so while talking to that person you're not even listening, since you presumed that anything that person says is something you disagree with ("I don't like you anyway").

"Seal it in a box" is claiming the other person to think inside the box.

Since he sings indistinctly, there are several versions of quoting this lyrics: "Now you/damn you/I'm new". It's hard to say what he actually sings, but I think that he sings "I'm you", trying to say that none of them is right in this argument, since they are arguing about something that everyone is allowed to have different opinion about, but they are both not willing to respect the other person's opinion, and Kurt wants to emphasize that as the main problem here. Intolerance. Both sides are experiencing it in this kind of discussion, and showing it at the same time, not realizing they are actually the same. That's why he sings "I'm you".
